Cheers mate! Yeah comfort seems to have been of low priority, at least for the common crew. Vasa wonderfully reflects 1600 society in that way.

It must have been awkward to go to the loo when the ship layed in harbor...

Hello Matti. As always, a pleasure to  look at your work.

Those pictures of the real Vasa show something that wasn't in my plans and I just noticed: The way the main stay goes around the foremast and attach below the bowsprit.

If I start modifying every detail I see that's wrong in my kit, I will never finish :D

Cheers!!!

There aren't but two options: do it FAST, or do it RIGHT.

Future projects already in my stash: Panart: San Felipe 1/75; OcCre: Santísima Trinidad 1/90;

So much to build, so little time!

Ulisses, cheers! I haven't come to the rigging planning yet, but if I understood what you ment, the 1:10 does not look like that, maybe it's because the real Vasa is "prepared for winter"? I'd do some research before changing anyway.

I'm starting to dread the rigging. So far the building has been kind of close to scratching styrene models. Rigging will be all new for me.

Your artistry and accuracy is stunning.

Very true, Mark.

In fact, this approach works for every step in your build. If you are planking the decks, don't think about how you are going to plank the hull; worry about it when you get there. And concentrate not in "I'm planking the deck" but in " I have to place this little piece of wood in the most perfect way to the best of my abilities".

There aren't but two options: do it FAST, or do it RIGHT.

Hi Matti-

I have an iPhone app called Camera + that does a nice job enhancing low light pictures. I hope you don't mind me altering your low light museum pics to help show the details. One thing is for sure - you are doing an amazing job with the details!

Don`t dread the rigging too much.Try what I do - think about it as just one rope at a time & you will be amazed at how it starts to come together. B)

Cheers for the advice Mark and Ulisses! Its just that I dont know anything how to do it so it will be all new. So far Ive done alot of improvisation and focused on reference. I hardly ever measure, only go by eye and gut, tryimg to get the right feeling. Hopefully I figure the rigging out once I get started.

Buck, sure go ahead. I already used photoshop to get a better balanced contrast on many pics but use the reference as you feel. Thats one of the things I like with this branch of model building: the helpfullness and openess about sharing reference. Thanks for the kind comment!

I would hope to not be the poor unfortunate sailor who took a line off the pin rail and accidentally droped it in the head.

Yeah! It would say splash as its open at the bottom. Its must have been weird for those standing beside the beakhead when she was in harbor, admiring the emperor sculptures and all of a sudden "stuff" starts to fall down in front of you...

Hi Matti

Your attention to detail is astounding - it's one of the things that make your model look remarkably realistic!

...And I couldn't stop laughing after reading your comment on " admiring the emperor sculptures and all of a sudden "stuff" starts to fall down in front of you..."

Impressive Matti. Your build is an inspiration. You give me new goals to reach in my future builds. It's work like this that give me new challenges for the future. Thank you!

Thanks guys, Im really happy you like it! Ulisses thats a very kind comment, and I allready planned to look at your build when I'm starting the rigging.

Yeah, we got winter finally, I'm pleased as I grew really tired of the dark and rainy weather. My new avatar is Filip, the crewman found next to the whipstaff. It's likely he died on his post trying to save her, as he could easily have escaped through the door right beside him.

You have the best Vasa build I ever saw! Jattebra! :)

Well, maybe except a crazy guy who scratchbuilt Vasa using same technology as for original ship :)
