Trafalgar Class Submarine by Old Collingwood - FINISHED - Airfix - 1/350 - PLASTIC

Recommended Posts

I havn't really been able to concentrate on my build over the last couple of days,   but earlier I came across a plan that shows some quite decent details,   one area I have decided to work on is the section panel lines, these are the hull frames and with a slight drag of my scalpel blade against a wood frame, I should be able to create some subtle detail.

Here is the plan.

Between the photos and plans you should be able to do some pretty impressive things.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Oc the frame showing are major Bulkheads within the hull, and wont be seen as they have either ballast tanks or casing covering them,

I am curious how you will get those fine details apear on the hull ... merely paint will not get it out as easily ...

I  had thought about scraping them in using a wood strip to guide and one of my sharp knives, but after reading Kevins post I will have to re think this.

Subs are not the easiest things to model, but there are some lovely builds out there, a lot of them go into diorama settings which takes the eye of something that is basically a sewer tube with propulsion

Not my photo, but perhaps one of the best options is to forget the black, and go very dark grey with some pre-shading or post shading, that way you could pick out some of the detail, or go the whole hog and simulate water

Cask of lager (or do you prefer bitter?) to replennish all that sweat lost on your build ... I can see you drowning your pints ...

I like Kevin's idea, although, it is your party OC

So what do you eat if you are a veggie OC?

Anything new on the self propelled sewer pipe?

The veggie was a joke mate,  I love my meat but dont mind salad sometimes when the weather is nice like now,    nothing else on the tub im affraid,  she is sitting on the table looking lost and alone, but to be honest its a "bad weather" job at the moment   too much nice weather keeping me away from her.

Good to hear the no salad veggie was a joke. Not only do I trust good old meat eaters better but I would hate to see you starve to death.:(

Go ahead and enjoy your sunshine, we are having mixed days here, one sunny and the other rainy, kind of normal for us though. Not too many signs of global warming yet this year.

Looking forward to your next steps.

30 degrees and you Northerners lose your heads. Perfect weather.

Is that Celcius or Fahrenheit?  30 F is delightful :D  30 C isn't too bad either!   Over 35 C is too hot. :(

Right now we're in day 2 of a predicted 7day heat wave, most only last 3 days here, last time it was this bad was 1953. Today we could exceed 99, heat index over 110.

Y'all a bunch of woosies enjoy the heat, it purges all the contaminants that have accrued in the body and expels them via sweat glands. A total purification of the old bod. Enjoy and embrace the the heat indexes.:dancetl6:

"Raining"   so that meanes  this -

I have fitted the Rudders  and dive planes  but also found away to etch some detail into the sail,   I shaped some 1mm strips to follow the profile of the sail, then I sat them ontop of each other and scribed some lines into the sail, this will hopefully show a few tiles, after I did a few vertical scribes.

Here are a few pics.
