BRIGANTINE SCHOONER GIGINO by mhkash - FINISHED

Hello 

Just started building the Brigantine Schooner "Gigino", an Italian sailing Vessel from the Early 20th century. Actually I'm very fond of Schooners and Ocean Paddle Steamers as well, and I plan to  work on "Barquentine cote d'émeraude" in the near future, ((supposing that I find the Plan (I hope so)).

 

I'll follow the same technique, which is Double planking on Bulkheads. The first layer of planks will be 3 mm Balsa wood to get a tough body, while the second is 1.5 mm is to get a natural wood finish look. I guess it won't be easy to find a 1.5 mm Balsa wood with clear wood grain appearance and it would need some research to use coloring to get that look.

Good Morning Keith, I use Balsa wood 1.5 mm thickness, and i was lucky to find 3 sheets of good quality. 

I have completed the 2nd Layer yesterday. Here we go

I spent yesterday building the rear cabin and finalizing the 2nd Layer of hull planks. Here is the latest progress.

Hello All

It is always like that, as I go on building, the model looks more better then it was at the beginning of the  process. At the Beginning it is like a junk to me , however , I keep saying to myself ... no no , wait and be patient .. until the shape becomes similar to the Original ..  here i did some work on the bow. hope you like it.

sorry for not posting the updates for long time, I was away for a month and as i came back home, i decided to resume working on my model , here are are snap shots for building the Deadeye blocks.
first , i took a piece from balsa sheet, used sandpaper for getting the shape of a tube, cut the blocks , paint and wrap a wire around to maintain against cracks

I've completed painting the Hull with a G5 Deco Spray, Black and Blue, with a yellow strip in between. The G5 is one of the best that i found here in the local market and gives a nice effect. here it is.
