I have painted the hull with the paints in the kit. Grey primer over all, buff on outside (3 coats) and dark grey on inside (2 coats).

Was worried the white glue would not work well on painted surfaces, so I marked out locations of mahogany strip and lightly sanded.

Soaked the strips then clamped them dry in position before gluing next day. This shows first piece clamped down to glue.

Great job on your dory! It will be a wonderful model when you're finished. My first boat was the Artesania Latina Saint Malo. It's a dory but I think the Bluejacket model is much better and more authentic. I love the small, working boats of the USA, Canada and the Mediterranean. I wish there were more good quality models of these types of boats. Good luck on the rest of your build.

Below are the line tub. I made per plan, but did not like the shiny white line and used unraveled hemp string glued in place.

Made oars per plan, built with scraps. Added a stretch of black flat paint to represent leather wraps for thole pins.

I glued hem of sail, then added stitching for show and glued on bolt rope.

Finally got around to posting pictures of finished model! I used historical photos of working dories, to postion the lifting loops, different from the instruction manual. Am happy with the finished model boat. This was my first wooden boat model, and my first from Blue Jacket. I enjoyed it very much, no frustration at all, I liked the kit. I look forward to starting another. Highly recommend.    20200517_184653.thumb.jpg.2e589246671c617f61ec38726579114d.jpg20200517_184746.thumb.jpg.5771e2758fcb1effa578b99a13f308ce.jpg20200517_184815.thumb.jpg.0912f36d0a533a3aa92c6573002cb08e.jpg20200517_184937.thumb.jpg.44d11f176a04ea5da7328961a21b4d69.jpg
