Nenad,

My wife is from Colombia and she used to hand make native Colombian seed jewelry (very beautiful). I actually just re-discovered all her equipment today and I am blown away at all the goodies she used that will be useful to me (after asking, of course), from different wires, to threads and rope to small tools that will be perfect for working with all the rigging!

You are so right my friend! Thanks for the great idea!

Thank you, friends

Yesterday we visit friends to play with She ( 3 months old), so I didnt work at the evening. And ... we love animals ... ahh ... beautiful evening

Today is state holliday, and non working day, so, until down we were outside doing first garden season job (cutting roses, collect winter traces leaves etc). Also sitting on stairs and drinking first outside coffie this year

In the evening, alone in home, run in shipyard, and second stage ( "rivets") of second inside bulwark is done. Following painting bulwark in white, I hope tomorrow. And then fabric job: 56 stanchions to make, paint and mount

you are posting an informative and well documented build log.  Keep up the great work my friend.

So very well said!

From both the tutorials and clear instructions your write as well as the insights into your challenges with your tools in your workshop I enjoy your log every time I see it.  Thank you Nenad!

Almost, Bindy, almost ...

Thank you for your kind words

Children are an endless source of annoyance, but also endless happiness, and meaning and purpose of life

Now, he know he messed up, and he is "smaller" than mosquito, even his almost 2 m and 110 kg. He know also that he need my help, so, there is a bit of greed in his today attitude ...

Always remember that long ago I was in position to eat somebody`s liver when I was young. Also, I can not (still) tell him about all my own escapades and rubbish I have done as youth ( cut off electrical current in high scool building, shooting professor with book, mad car drive, out of home 2-3 days without phone call to parents, stay in vacation 35 instead 15 days ... ) even I have been excellent pupil and student, sportsman and playing guitar  ...

Ah, memories ...

Popeye,

Thanks for your encouragement and kind words.

If I understand well your question, left inside bulwark - water ports and "rivets" are done (painted white). Right side is done, have to be painted. Next are both waterways (precise painting), then stanchions, and then re-planking of main deck.

And on that place I have some dilemma about order of moves. I intend for deck to be little "older" that waterways, as on C-plans and Lou`s cross-section scheme of bulwarks

post-4738-0-55032000-1392811233.jpg

Just I am talking with myself (Very nice conversation ! One of us listen very well) to do stanchions first or to do planking first. I am afraid that mounting stanchions after planking can damage some planks at their connections to the waterway. A lot to think about until finish painting

Not a big dill, but something for my little brain not to be sleepy

if there are to be waterways,  I would think that the stanchions anchor to the deck at the edge........the deck planking can follow after,  at the point.   I think this would make it easier to do,  and still retain some margin of correctness  ;)

Nenad;  In my experience I planked the deck first, (actually before the hull and bulwarks) and the only problem I've had (so far) was some marring of the deck when squaring the bulwarks (easily fixed).  I think either way will be fine.  I love the look of your rivets, and am looking forward to seeing the stanchions in place with the decking!

Sleep is the best remedy for a tired body;  when the body needs it, it will take it.  I like to start dinner and then put a movie on while it's cooking;  then we watch  the movie and eat dinner;  The Admiral will then unfailingly go to bed, and I can go Hmmm.... with the build.  only problem, (Then I  get tired and go to bed.....)

This do not help, Bob !

My crew also do not help. Following next days and whole weekend are full of family happening : Kids birthdays ( 22th and 24th february) with two home parties, Princess have exam in forensic medicine on unknown day so panic is wide spread in whole home, and Princess started to hold in house hip-hop classes at weekend, Hothead leads some people (rock band) four days to take a music  in his music studio in our house ( studio controls are in the middle of house, and recording room is in the attic, so they will pace and run throught whole house four days !!!), his bike is  still in dismantled parts in whole garage, some relatives and friends will come in visit, in mean time have to fight with kid`s German language school, on Sunday I have to visit cemetery in downtown with my old aunt, cleaning whole house ( apartment 150 m2 + 50m2 garage and heatroom) more than once, visit my old man ( 87 years) at nursing home, Admiral except to help her in some domestic works, there are fruits and flowers to be treated in homeyard , my close friend bought a new car and insist to go with me to test drive and to dinner, have to meet one client in mean time  .... I got tired only of the enumeration ...

It seems that as I catch few hours of work tonight, this is it until next week.

And She become little nervous because She thinks that She is neglected ...  additional pressure from shipyard ...

Any volunteer to hide me and keep me safe next 6 days ? Away from here the better !  ;)  :P  :(

Just kidding. I like action in family life. That is the wonderful point and blessing of living together

Hothead is 195 cm tall, and you can imagine how big this beast is

When finally Hothead leave me alone, first hand of acrylic white inside bulwark paint is done. Unlike black, white acrylic is somewhat transparent, so, for outside white "square" rails I must figure out something  ...

And as usual in life, when you expect crowd and chaos, all somehow clear and you have regular peacefull day ... (life sometimes go in reverse way - you expect peacefull nirvana day, and after couple of hours you just do not know where your head is)

So, yesterday evening I finished inside painting of bulwarks, and here is result

Satisfied, and GO, STANCHIONS GO ... It was late, so I leave Her to rest from me

Today, I can not believe, almost whole day for me. So, finished my homeworks, ( it is raining outside, so gardenworks must wait) and inpatiente run down to shipyard to open stanchions factory

It's really an injustice what's happening to me all day

Last time I managed to solder a nice little rings, and was horny like a pig how this SIMPLE THING AS SOLDERING easily and quickly go.

But ....  for some unknown reason whole day I could not solder any single thing, even after six hours of persistent and stubborn attempts. Tone of solder wire is melted on the work surface, another on my work paints. This damn thing or will not melt at all, or express turns into a drop precipitously to go to ...

Over a hundread times I cleaned iron, cleaned and made new parts to join, experimented, tried again and again ...

After 4 hours before dinner and 2 hours after, I gave up, thinking that somebody put anti-soldier magic spells to my workshop

#$!%&%"

As I am very stubborn mule, I ll try again tomorrow

I have, and run both ... have a separate flux also ... Tried today again, and better ... cheap chinese solder iron 60W power ... dirty top ...  not enough heat ... so much flux ... and a permanent growing nervouse and impatient ...  it seems to be solution somewhere in this... we ll see in afternoon/evening am I right ...

Why am I such a idiot ?

Why I always have to discover hot water again ?

Why I always, after hot water have to discover a hole in the flowerpot ?

I proposed Bob ( Rfolsom) one possible solution for stanchions, he did it very well, just exelent, and why I have to ask for more ?

Solder a litle ring ? When white paint comes over - WHO will be able to see difference less than 0,5 mm ?

I think this is good enough, and this will be final solution, so, production can start

Nenad,

Ok... dirty tip will cause a lot of problems.   When cool, sand lightly with some fine grit sandpaper (200 or finer) until the tip is shiny.  Heat up the iron and tin the tip with solder.   While soldering, keep a wet sponge nearby and periodically wipe the tip on the sponge.  Don't burn your self.  Keeping that tip clean and tinned is the one of the key things when soldering.
