HMAS Sydney IV by RGL - FINISHED - Academy - 1/350 - RESIN

Recommended Posts

I’ve got about 4 builds planned this year, and this set is a really reasonable price as it comes with an excellent PE Set from Pontos. I have some other extras from Veteran models and aftermarket decals.

there are a HEAP photos of a Sydney and this class of ship on Facebook as well as those who have served on her.

You slipped in silently with a new build ... something modern again. Curious how fast this one will go. Does the corvette count as one of the four builds for this year?

I'm glad I can ask Banyan if you did it right !

Eventhough I'm still getting sorted out - sold my house November last, and get my works space in order - kits are being added to my stash. Some are still in storage, so I wonder if I do have enough space left for those when those are added to the stash present ... I might send you one, RGL, if you get bored waiting for kits ...

Greg, just for info, the additional side fin is actually one of two (one per side) roll stabiliser - moveable fins.  You're moving ahead at quite a rate.

Nicely done with all the PE, so far.  I just love bending and folding the grabs, then inserting them into the appropriate holes.

Lots of nice detail which is really bringing her to life; nicely done.  Are you replacing the refuelling equipment also (bellmouth receiver, hose etc)?

cheers

I think I recall someone having that at small scales at Shapeways.  I'll let you know if I find anything.

[edit} - Found these - at wrong scale but as the artwork is done may print of in your scale?  https://www.shapeways.com/marketplace/miniatures/ships?type=product&q=refueling+at+sea

They’ve got some nice(ish) stuff but the shipping is horrendous from the US to Oz ($25 USD for a very very small parcel) which you cannot track (they say you can but you can’t) and I will be finished by the time it gets here as it’s over six weeks. I ordered the Duck months in advance from shapeways and the product is poor (actually rubbish) and slow.
