Black Pearl by Tararasik - Zvezda - 1/72

Recommended Posts

Greetings captains!
Christmas came early this year. I recently got an unexpected and great gift from my coworker - box of the Black Pearl.

I'm into modelism in general, but mostly made airplanes and recently got excited by painting miniatures.

Couple of years ago I started two ships, but abandoned them because I wanted to make them "perfect" but couldn't. This one should be special, as want to build it as I want. So basically I want just to build "as it is", but have couple of ideas what I'll probably improve.

I will be glad of your comments and advises.

I cut all the deck parts and tried to fit and glued hull. Then started to build guns...a lot of guns. Almost quater of all the parts of the kit are guns parts ) They are pretty bad quality - molding parts shifted a bit, so there are a lot of sanding and cleaning.

And started to prime.

Also want to cut windows to the captains cabin something like this. So wish me luck ))

Thanks Jeff.

I'm not sure about right terms so please correct me if I'm mistaken.

Meanwhile a made a lot of boring job - cleaned all the sides, primed and painted hull and sides.

From the interesting parts - added some bits on the quarterdeckgrates, improved a bit steering wheel with a rope, construction for the bell, also trying to make a bell, but probably will just buy it. Also added imitation of shellfish and stuff on the bottom of the hull.

Wow, it's a pleasure to hear it from you. I read your topic about building BP before I started mine and learn a lot. Now I also want pirates on my ship )

Today I made a binnacle, it wasn't in the kit, but I heard that it's the main furniture on the ship. It looks a bit big, but I like it )

I love the modifications — they help make it your own.  👍🏻

Sure, that's why I love this hobby, it's kind of art. Especially this ship which almost has no rules ) I've seen couple of dozen of this model and everyone was unique.
I also consider adding some furniture to the captain's cabin. But I've spent couple of hours on this binnacle and afraid that furniture set will take a week ))

'Absolutely LOVE all the details you're including, mate.  If I ever do a movie ship, it might be the pirate ship from Hook, with Dustin Hoffman playing the title role ... he was perfect.  Then I'd have to equip his cabin with all those red-heeled shoes in one cabinet, a miniature ship floating in a large bowl, etc. (and a miniature of Hook and Smee) and make the skull-like stern decoration hinged so one can open it to see the interior.  Hook (holding pistol to his head), "This time I'm going to do it.  Stop me, Smee.  I'm really going to do it!  Smee .... SMEE!  Stop me, Smee." 😉

Completed builds:  Khufu Solar Barge - 1:72 Woody Joe

Current project(s): Gorch Fock restoration 1:100, Billing Wasa (bust) - 1:100 Billings, Great Harry (bust) 1:88 ex. Sergal 1:65

Thanks, I hope you'll build it once ;)

Look, I found a perfect t-shirt for my build.
