Good morning all,

I am a new member from Northern California. I am new to ship building but not so new to building models. I am glad to be here and looking forward to making connections and learning. I would be so grateful as to gather your opinions as to where to start!

Thank You,

Diego

Hi Diego and welcome to Model Ship World.  Model Shipways Lowell Grand Banks Dory is a good kit to start with.  It is often run on sale at Model Expo.

Welcome to MSW, Diego.  You got some great advice from rcmdrvr.  I'd also suggest that you browse through the various sections of MSW and take a look at the pinned posts particularly in this section.

This is great advice! If I were to begin again it's what I would do. I would also recommend the half hull planking project offered by Nautical Research Guild. Planking a hull correctly can be a tricky business and it's a skill that will serve you well in future builds. That said, welcome aboard!

Welcome, I also came from a plastic modeling background. Some of the skills will translate and others will not but as everyone else has suggested look around, pick something small to start with and you will do great.
