Good morning, Lawrence. I agree with Grant - not sure how the rigging material is in your kit, but it was like night and day compared to the stuff in my kit. I'll take a couple of pictures (using both on the Harriet- too complicated to change it all over) when I get home from Orlando on Friday.

Well, FINALLY!!!!  Here are a couple of shots - not sure how well you can tell the difference, but first is a picture of the shrouds on the fore mast.  These are with the kit supplied thread.

This shows the shrouds on the main mast using thread from Chuck. I used the brown vs the black - think it is a better approximation for this scale.  To me, the thread looks better than the kit thread but, more importantly, it is much easier to work with!

While looking through some older Nautical materials I had downloaded, I came across the attached series of articles from The U. S. Nautical Magazine and Naval Journal from 1857 discussing the competition that resulted in William Webb building the Harriet Lane.  Rather interesting set of specifications spelled out in the requirements article, closely matching the HL.  Also a peek into the politics of the times!

Never know what you will find in these old journals!

Note that the article with a description of the proposed Revenue Cutter was by John Griffiths - one of the losing bidders, and also (coincidentally) the publisher and editor of the magazine.  It is interesting to see how closely many of the dimensions and fittings align with the winning model proposed by Webb.

Well, not much progress to report, but have brought the Harriet Lane back to the table and gotten some detail rigging underway.  Thus far, have finished most of the braces and the main sheet.  Next up some clean up, then the catheads are calling for attention.
