G'day Denis

The bleach walnut looks great to me. It's more interesting than just plan walnut or whatever you used. Well done mate!

Hi Denis,

I agree completely wirh Greg - nothing is more boring than a 100 % identic Color of a deck. This mixture of nuances make the deck look so real... Best done , really !

Well Done Denis

Love that aged warm worn look that seems to have been scrubbed & Mopped by the crew of the then day.

Looking forward following your build log.

Hi All

Just fitted the main deck gratings .

I did think about cutting the ends off but decided against it.

But looking at the photos I wish I had now as I left plenty of deck planking left on to support them.

Denis.

Hi All

I have put the liquid glass on the back of the window.

Dried fitted it to see how it looked.

I have got to say I do like it.

Yes I know you will not see it when the upper deck is fitted but it is good practice for later on.

Hi Brian

I tried a small window some months back and it is still on the back.

All I did was sand the back down to get rid of any surface film so it is nice and bright finish.

Sanding also puts scratch marks on the surface so the liquid glass has something to key to.

Hi all

I have just started to put the stairs together for the main deck.

I still have to clean it all up.

Not sure yet if I will stain it or just varnish it yet.

Denis.

Dennis - just catching up with some of the logs I used to follow, I missed most of the hull build, are you enjoying the kit?

Hi Denis

just perfect. It was a good decision, not to stain tjhe Wood. The varnish gives a very smooth and realistic effect on the stairs. BTW - I wish the stairs in my home were as beautiful as your model :D
