It may just be the shadows, but it looks like it is mounted with the bow high as if jumping a wave.  I love it.

That's one awesome looking model Pete!  I really like the color combination with the logos, vivid and eye catching.

Question if you don't mind my ignorance on boats, what's that thingy at the stern that looks like a lemonade cooler?  Forgive me, I'm an airplane guy and they don't have those thingies.  Is that perhaps for GPS navigation?

Hi Pete and Piet

Just thinking about the GPS, you could always hide a Garmin GPS tracker in the hull and track your voyages on computer. Now, that'd be really cool. Imagine, having a Log of every voyage, tracked turn by turn, complete with GPS coordinates. Now, that would be one comprehensive ship's log.

Food for thought.

Thanks Piet, I can't seem to get it to work ( I think it's a wiring issue  LOL )  , the Inmarsat Sailor 500 works perfect LOL

Hi Omega, The Sailor 500 Does exactly that in unison with the GPS , its an incredible technology that allows real-time Satellite tracking from the boat , as to location, performance , and keeps a log ,its just another thing that makes these boats incredible ( State of the Art )

I also did the final West System Application to the Keel ( for a total of 3 ) next the Keel will be sanded smooth and painted a Flat Black along with the 2 Rudder Blades

Best Regards,

Pete

You can get small really small trackers. Here's a tracker about the size of 4 stacked US quarters. Self-charging as well. http://www.retrievor.com/small-and-lightweight-gps-tracking  :P

Watching you guys finish cool models is a great spectator sport, though!

While I was on vacation at the naval museum in Amsterdam I took these pictures from the model Volvo 70 ABN-AMRO. It was part of model display of 400 years of yachting in the Netherlands. Antique models from 1600 to modern models of 2000.

btw. I took 500 pictures of models, paintings, figureheads, etc. all from Dutch ships.

500 pics and you only saw fit to post 2? I think a thread for some of these pics is in order. :)

I am working on that. Will post a thread in the museum part of the forum. One for the Rijks museum and on for the Naval museum.

After enough procrastination, and a lot of projects that I would like to start on I decided to finish her as a static ( less Sails ) So I started by rigging up the mast. I first made the Main Sheet traveler, then put the mast in the Mast step. Next I installed the main Sheet, and installed the Standing Rigging. I installed the Main winches for the main sheet and the jib. I then installed the steering stations, and then ran the Back Stay. Then I installed the Navigation Station. Next will be to make the 2 Rudder Blades, Cradle and install the Keel. Here are the results
