Well Bellona,.....your hull is complete. It has been a long journey old friend and just a coat of varnish to bring out your natural beauty. We nearly didn't make it this far and still a way to go yet before all your charms are revealed.

You have tested my resolve on many occasions and you do not know how close I came to turning you into pulp, but we have made it this far....the journey continues.

Specificly love the subtile black on the lanterns, galleries and windows! Top notch and beautifull ship. I am very glad you didn’t turn her into pulp! 😬

I have been following and admiring your project for quite a while now and she really is a beauty! I can't wait to start working on my own Bellona, if only she would arrive ...

Cheers

That is a handy looking lathe sir.

I extended the minicraft lathe attachment with two longer stainless steel bars. The original one does not extend to that length......it does the job reasonably well I just have to support the longer yards with my fingers as I sand or turn.

Hi Harlequin

In your post from may 14th 2013 (let the planking begin) you seem to have done something to the area on the false keel below the transom. What was it and why did you do it? Thanks.

Cheers

Pieter

if you look at the pic of the first planking in the next pic the first planks fit just below the false keel where the rudder will fit....this is due to me having removed or thinned some of the false keel in the area you mention.

Hi Harlequin

Thanks for the warning.

The false keel is 5mm so I guess if I gently work myself backwards beginning at bulwark #11 I could end up with some 2.5 mm at the stern and compensate the rest with the planking. Will be a dusty procedure ;o)

Cheers

Pieter
