  1. nice progress, joints are looking tight and all beams seem to be in the correct alignment for the plans on the fore platform. still travening east bound one day out of Los Angeles, be good to get back home after being out to see for the last 15days Guy
  2. when I return, we get back in port (LA) tomorrow AM, so perhaps I can take a few pictures and post them on sunday.
  3. while at sea I have put together 18 new frames so my frame count is over 30 now! slow going I know! but still working.
  4. Nice clamps! when do you pull the patterns off the frames? I am going on a short cruise to Hawaii and back soon so will be taking some frames to assemble with me, I have already cut out the pieces, its just a matter of gluing them to the frame pattern...about 18 frames, should keep me busy for a couple of days. I have a lot of small clamps but want to try and fabricate some that Ed Toshi did for his Naiaid whic I do not have The short cruise was 15 days, great relaxation!!
  5. Wow what a fantastic set of plans! limited research and I feel a full build coming....I can see why you picked it. My frist kit build was a market schooner fantastic ships and I really enjoyed building her, But this will be a lot nicer looking build!
  6. I have sent Billings Boat an e-mail but it has been a while since they have sold the kit hopefully they will have the research available. I came across this picture today taken in the mid 40's of YTM446, it has a lot of detail and is a very clear picture. it has an extended deck house aft beyond where the galley would have been, I doubt if there was a towing bit aft because of the limited space. It also has a raised pilot house with the captain's cabin just aft on the main deck house. But it is still a Woban class tug! the site said it was operated by African Americans, possibly an east coast location Will check out your new site asap Guy
  7. Don't worry about the rubber bands, they are not in our way! Looking good!
  8. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! DANIEL NICE JOB ON THE PROGRESSION PICTURES FOR THE BOLLARD TIMBERS AND HAWSE FRAMING. I SEE THAT YOU HAVE UPDATED THE BOLLARD PIECE AND EXTENDED IT UP. THANK YOU FOR THE CORRECTION AS THIS WAS ONE OF THE ITEM I WAS HAVNG PROBLEMS WITH GUY
  9. Mark I do not know if there were ever plans published from the source but I can ask one of our club members who have the disk from the Rope member and see if that is so, if you wish sorry for the delay in responding to this post Guy
  10. Bob, Looks great kinda what I remember, If I ever come across a set of line Plans for this class I will build a 1:48 model ...perhaps even an RC Guy
  11. That sure makes it look simple~great vid!
  12. Klaus, You propose some interesting issues with Dr Mc'Ardles publication on the construction of the HMS Sussex. Perhaps you could publish an Addendum to his book with all the corrections. I am sure any one wanting to construct this ship as a model would find this useful and would immensely add to the accuracy of ones construction! I have seen the model and it is well done and seems very accurate, however I do not have the book yet and can not comment on the accuracy of his drawings. One would have to ask how accurate are they as compared to his one off measurements of the actual model.
  13. Thanks Ed for posting all the addendums here, I will copy and add to my plans and documentation in the two volumns. Now all I have to do is check back once in a while. Guy
  14. Ulises, your tooth pick link brought me here! Fantastic build and you have done great job on the pictures and documenting your build.
  15. Anouther good source for woods in southern CA North OC is http://www.eisenbrandhardwoods.com/ or http://eisenbrandhardwoods.com/index.php?cPath=37 for most ship building woods in large quanitied ie: boards. I think that they may have moved their location and the webpage is new and still in progess of being constructed but there is a listed phone number that will put you in to contact with the owner
  16. Bob, great job! I liked your paint scheme, the red really delinates the construction of the boat. I did not see any one in the group talk about the application of the frieze decal other that you used a diffrent one than was sent with the kit. was this a decal or just paper glued on?
  17. Mike, as usual good job. are you going to bring the fly in for the January meeting?
  18. A well done job of documenting the construction of the carronades!
  19. I like your ships stove, did you use the drawing from the speedwell plans or some other drawing but not a boardy. Can you show us your construction on the stove?
  20. At that rate I will never be able to catch up with you! Looking good
  21. Still working on frames but slow going as outher thing have gotten more priorrity .... like paying the bills and keeping up with the honey doos
  22. Bob the deck house looks good, don't forget to add the 6 dogs on each hatch/door. The portholes all opened and were either riveted or bolted in...proably too small for that detail Guy
