  1. Lots of tiny, fragile little parts there Dennis, but she's going to be a beaut when it's done. Halogen's help I bet!
  2. Cannon and carriages look great Ken. Love that quoin-handle
  3. Over-all, the planking seems to look alright Robert. It's probably just the picture, or me, but in the last pic, the rear gun-port seems to set a little lower than the rest, and maybe adding to the problem?
  4. I think a simulated sheave would just be 2 holes with a groove etched between them. A real sheave would have a pulley instead of a groove. Both should operate the same way with a line feeding through the hole and through the bulwarks to a pin or cleat, with the remainder coiled. Sheet-lines for instance, would be tied off after going through the sheave.
  5. Looking fantastic Tom. You're going to end up with a real beauty when it's done. Hope mine turns out half as good. And yes, it bugs me more than you know, but I'm committed to doing this the way I've already started, and can't change-up now. Every month brings me that much closer though. You have a Happy Father's Day too!
  6. Those pics show a definite improvement Dennis. I like the over-all shots of her.
  7. She's looking better and better Dennis! I know exactly what you mean about pesky neighbors bugging you all the time for free diagnostic skills. It's like once they get wind of your talent, every time they have a problem, it becomes yours.
  8. Sometimes it's good to step back for a while, then come back and attack it, refreshed with a new attitude.
  9. Those pics are supposedly how she looked when launched Tom. It was just a few years before it was changed by some accounts, but to what is the $60,000 question. There's no definitive info beyond that. I'm looking into acquiring copies of 3 separate sets of plans depicting her in the "as launched" era, to reference when I start mine. Been told OK, so it's just a matter of waiting for the cash flow to build up after I complete my workshop.
  10. Like Tom, I too wasn't around for MSW 1, and very much look forward to seeing you construct the Dragon II.
  11. Thanks guys! That was where I found it! I'll stop looking now! Definitely a beautiful piece!!
  12. Tom, the whole reason I mentioned anything at all was because I was under the impression you were going for the 1812 version. So then I took a look at the pics I had found someplace when browsing, and noticed the open-hatchway was indeed the way it was. I wish it was my model, but sadly, no. But I do have another 6 pics of her. It is magnificent. Jim Byrnes is also building a contemporary version of the same era. I'll try and locate the site I found these at.
  13. I think you're right about that Tom. After looking at these two pics of a 72" version of the 1797 config, that's exactly what I'm seeing.
  14. Wow, the difference is amazing, to say the least, Mark. Nice job on figuring out, and fixing, all of the intricacies on a machine that 90% of people would have sent back, or taken a hammer to. Micro Mess needs to get their crap in a group, and start selling a product that people can use without having to spend days fixing it first to get it to work.
  15. Glad to hear there were no serious casualties with the boys and their time off Matt. Just wondering if Harry, Red and Woodie have a plan as to how the bowsprit will be installed?
  16. Good save on the over-spray Dennis! Wow, must have been a little bit of a heart-thumper! If you keep going like this though, you'll have her done in 2 or 3 days.
  17. You're making progress Dennis, and getting things sorted out at least. The numbers for the funnels were on the sprues no doubt, but with a little dry-fitting and trial and error, you'll get them figured out. Cheers
  18. That's some good looking soldering Nenad. Good to see you back at the shipyard!!
  19. She's going to look beautiful Tom. I do have a question though, about the upper strips on the main hatch being flush with the "inside". Wouldn't they need to be flush with the outside providing a ledge or rabbet for the hatch-way gratings to set on, or do they just set on the deck-beams?
  20. Your planking's progressing nicely Jesse. It's good to have a dog around. I miss mine being here and "helping" me do stuff. Didn't matter what.
  21. That's some good news!! Glad to hear that Nenad!! Cheers
  22. Not sure about your ship Robb, but others I've seen are just notches cut into the channel with a strip molding over the edge to enclose them. Before cutting those notches though, you might want to get the masts stepped and raked first, so you can gauge where the shrouds need to be located for those dead-eyes. If that makes any sense.
