  1. Looking fab, the cannons really start to make her look aggressive progress is super-- Love the painting those sails would look great on the model... I'm just about to embark on my sails --so its good to see your mock ups. I now keep changing my mind as to which way to go-- i am now thinking a mix of full and furled sails as per your painting...aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh to much to choose from 🤪 By the way , I have just fitted royal stays-- I took my lead from you
  2. And the option to obscure the whole planking job in black paint makes it a very appealing first timer build. 😁 I had the same thought Richard with my first build-- Bounty-- nice white paint to cover things up the lower hull ..you are making great progress--keep it up and thanks for starting a building log for us to follow, very much appreciated.
  3. Getting that far is great for understanding the size and shape of her , looking forward to seeing how you get on--- should be fab . Ian
  4. Its coming on great--- glad I am following you, I noticed after looking at your pictures I have missed the foot ropes on my jib boom--- so thanks I shall correct that soon. Liking the anchor chains the length and the colour looks spot on to me...I have not fitted them yet I shall leave that to last when I fit the lights ---
  5. Keep up the good work its looking really promising, I find its all about setting small targets to achieve each one you mentally treat as a 'model' that way steady and sure progress without that feeling 'will i ever get this done' feeling LOL LOL
  6. Hi Daniel I have been following this for a while as this may be my next build-- with all the extra detail you are adding an average kit build is turning into something special---thanks for taking time to share it with us...
  7. Never seen this build before -- keen to see how it turns out-- good luck
  8. Hi Peter @flyer I haven't rigged the Royals--- but might... yes, the stove can be seen slightly (all of the top) -- better than not at all-- I spent so much time doing it I thought it a shame to hide it,
  9. @mort stoll easy -- they were just plastic coated electrical wire---stripped with just the end insolation left on end for the sponge and the bare copper for the shift and painted you can make loads in minutes ...and completely strip wires twisted at the end for the cork screw.
  10. no luck-- tried them as well-- just hoping some shop has old stock stuck somewhere
  11. Thanks, I have just added your build to my favourites-- gives me lots of ideals-- might go fully furled all round.. Better keep it light on here its not my build log Its a great build and looking forward to seeing how it turn out ..amazing I bet!!!
  12. yes--- and with their carriages on to the kit barrels they look right in proportion-- well to my eyes anyway Cannon Carriages - 9-pounder, 1:72 Cannon Carriages - 18-pounder, 1:72
  13. Thanks I have seen this video-- I am having great difficulty in locating silkspan in the UK--- so if anyone knows where to get some I'd be greatly obliged .
  14. I forgot to say-- I'm planning to do a mix of furled and set sails-- set the main, fore course and one of the bow sails, (slightly raised from fully down) The spanker full. And all the rest furled--- well that's the intention....lets see how it works out in practice 🤣 I just wanted to do something different as my last build had no sails (Cheerful) and my Bounty has full sails set.
  15. I've just finished the standing rigging and never even noticed the cannon size issue on the plans when I was doing them🤪 I used the kits barrels but used the wooden carriage kits from Chris Watton's 'Victory model's instead of the cast ones...
  16. Hi thanks for taking time out to respond. @GrandpaPhil I have read that book and has given me some good thoughts on how to proceed. And yes @JerryTodd I think I could use my Vanguard plans as a basis for a simplified square rigged R/C boat. The hull would have lots of room for the radio and linkage. I would just have to work out how to break her down for transit and make her look detailed but not---and relatively bomb proof for lifting and bumping into other boats and things! LOl so watch this forum-- I plan to start around October-- a winter project...
  17. Hi I am struggling to find an R/C kit of a Napoleonic warship, don't mind if it has an electric motor or 100% sail--- any suggestions? I have never built an actual 'floating' model before just thought it would be fun to try and actually sail it Thanks
  18. I'm loving the copper plating. The style and application makes it looks so strong, industrial, purposeful---- a great look
  19. One of my favourite planes, in my youth used to see a few flying around from RNAS Yeovilton in Somerset
  20. Just been doing a little research, most leaf is bright 24k.but the 18k less common but darker and is prone to tarnish..very un gold like but might be worth a look...let it darken till your happy then lacquer it??? Just guessing
  21. Been following this thread with interest, my next build will be Sovereign of the Sea-- lots of gold which I assume was gilt? I was thinking of using actual gold leaf-- Sorry to jump in.. Ian
  22. Sorry-- The water is not deep enough I can still see the sub !! LOL --- Love it --just bitter and twisted..
  23. I just love the way you coloured the funnel--- so realistic-- its touches like that which elevate into the very special category
