This is going to be very interesting. It is also stronger as the wood grain is running in the right direction. Utrecht has frames that are almost square, so sawing them in one piece will seriously lower their strenght, as at least one parft of the frame is cross-grained. Are you also adding the frame pieces that are in the 'real ship' to attacht the futtocks to the floor-parts of the frame? Blue or green are the most likely colours. Black and grey were not used. Merchant ships were just painted dark brown, the admirality ships were probably green or blue. Problem is: no written records left, and paintings are not too reliable to take colour samples from.... The model in Lelystad by Tomesen (Artitec) is probably the most documented. But the spanish alsedo-class (early twenites) has 4 funnels, and not 2 The other class is not early twenties, but does look very, very much like yours. (or is 1925 still early, in your definition?) Jan

Which cuts do you mean, actually? Those oval shaped 'holes' in the stern are made by Mamoli. The gratings are glued on to the deck, and a small strip of wood (slightly thicker than the deck planking is glued around them. The gratings themseleves are build up from prefabricated (by Mamoli) strips of wood. Jan
