  1. I agree with Ken OC. Although Spooky may have been used somewhere for the AC130, I cannot remember it being used by anyone in the field The AC 47s were always "Spooky" and the 130s "Specters". I think the AC119s were called "Shadows" but I never saw one of them light up the night. I don't think there were that many of them.
  2. At last, someone knows what the PT stands for in PT Cruiser! I knew it was one of the "retro" cars that were popular at the time, the others being the VW Bug and Mini Cooper. My wife always liked the look, me, not so much. I guess I like the box car look better. I always wanted to own a Mini but by the time I could fit one into the family plan I could no longer afford one, at least not as a daily runner. I suppose I need to drive mine a little more as well as it is an 04 and has 85K on the meter. But currently I'm getting about three months to the gallon on all of my cars! I think this last year the longest trips we took were a couple of 300 mile round trips in the summer. It's not so much that we don't want to go somewhere, it's that there is no where open to go!
  3. That's a lot of gold showing Mike. You have been a busy little beaver. Looking forward to seeing how it starts looking when you add the other colors!
  4. Can't afford that kind of shopping trip! At todays model costs it would not be long before the contents of the trunk would exceed the value of the car carrying them!
  5. You may find that in building a rounded bilge hull like you are that using planks will be the easier method of covering. PT and PBR type boats are hard chine and take panels much easier.
  6. First off, once you placed the wing into place the interior pretty much disappeared unless you get real close and look up the bird's butt! The cockpit has much more glass than I expected but that came out perfectly. If I ever do get around to building mine then I will do the same as you did. I like the darker two tone gray much better than the other colors I have seen. If you are missing a decal then I have not noticed it. I personally think it has turned out very nicely.
  7. So does that mean that the "PT" stands for Part Truck in the case of your Cruiser? I read once that the space created by folding the back seat down in a Mini is exactly large enough to hold a set of fully loaded golf bags!
  8. Like that will ever happen! Thanks for the compliment, but based on what I saw in this build, any effort I may make would be FAR down the list from perfect. Even blurry camera shots would not be able to hide it. I think yours has turned out quite well, much better than anything I could do.
  9. You ought to see the back seat in my 2004 Mini Cooper. We would have to cut your feet off! The only people who have ever sat back there has been my kids a couple of times and even then we just had one and he sat sideways! Even the dog prefers the front!
  10. That is why Killer Bees and Killer Hornets have not been found north of the Canadian border! Those mosquitos are big enough that when they land on you they pin your arms down and suck you dry. Just for fun they like to hop onto the biggest Moose they can find and ride him through the woods looking for a tourist to trample.
  11. Got my attention Craig. As the 2K clear is a two part mix, how much time do you have to work with it before it hardens in your airbrush? What do you use to clean it out of your airbrush?
  12. Add me to the list. I would be challenged to do those at 1/350th. Time to pat yourself on the back Mike. It's well earned.
  13. I find the prices for cruises to be amazing. Does anyone even offer an around the world cruise these days? (Pre COVID of course)
  14. Those were Canadian Mosquitos Jack. And not the Dehavillad kind! They grow them BIG up there. Congratulations .
  15. It turns out that the 6G ride was "As built". It was redesigned sometime later and now is reported as maxing out at about 4Gs.
  16. Nicely done Mike. Especially the aft AA gun. I also think it is an improvement over the kit gun.
  17. So that means that it is not artistic license, but absolutely authentic as no one can argue with you on your choice.
  18. Some things are not things you want to remember and just don't "Describe" well. The person you are talking to wouldn't understand it anyway unless they were there also, in which case you need not explain it in the first place.
  19. When it comes to riding in amusement park rides with her, YES! Not high on my list of things I like doing together. Just for those who can get to them and have the desire here is a bucket list of sorts: https://rollercoaster.fandom.com/wiki/Highest_G-Force_on_a_Roller_Coaster The note about older roller coasters built in the past that pulled up to 12Gs is intriguing. That is some serious Gs. I wonder if anyone ever passed out? I have been on every one of the rides you showed at one time or another except the one in the film EG. I think some of them may have had different names though. One I did get on once was at the Pacific Science Center. They strapped you into a framework that looked like a gyroscope with you in the middle and when they let you go you could twist and turn in any direction. It was not powered but I could make myself spin or roll faster or slower but try as I might, I could not stop it and was only able to change direction slightly. It was supposed to demonstrate moving in a vacuum. Obviously without a jet pack! I think I like the looks of the coaster you show OC. That may be one of the fun ones.
  20. That would be especially true if it was someone like my older grandson. When he was about six months old his father came over and was throwing him in the air and catching him. The boy LOVED it. The only problem was that my son was walking at the same time and at one point was standing under a beam that crosses the ceiling between the living and dining rooms. The boy's head hit with a THUNK and all fun was over. I couldn't believe my son had not been paying attention. Another thing I always did with my kids was let them ride on my shoulders when we went somewhere. When we first got our youngest grandson at 3 years old I tried doing that and he freaked out! He had never been carried that way before it appears. I can understand that as well as the other fears that might be present. What I don't understand is the people who knowing they have these major fears go on the ride anyway. Maybe they think it will be different this time. I have been on all those rides you mentioned and I think a few more. I have not found one yet that was too fast, twisty, or turney for me. But then I have never flown in an F-4 either! But I also repeat that riding on amusement rides with my wife is kind of like kissing my sister. Not much thrill at all.
  21. Not quite what I was talking about. The stuff I was talking about is the stuff you find as spacers in the box on almost every electronic device or toy you buy theses days. It is also available in assorted sizes. (This is what the RC airplane guys use to make almost any plane in existence and some flying things that were never meant to fly at all. https://hotwirefoamfactory.com/search.php?mode=search&page=1&keep_https=yes You can buy nice clean ready to build with new foam, or you can do like we did twenty something years ago and go dumpster diving behind our local big box store and pretty much get the same thing for free. Gasoline melts this stuff in seconds but maybe you can find a safer solution. I suppose you could use heat as well but you would want to possibly experiment first. I just said what we did. I did not say it was the only way or even a recommended way to remove the foam once it has done it's job. Here it is using Acetone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ecxZ5umaa5I but Acetone could affect the fiberglass hull that you want to keep as well. Don't know. I only made a hull using this method once.
  22. Well researched paper Ken. Is it a stand alone piece, or part of a larger work?
  23. I have never understood why #1 people would have a fear of amusement park rides and #2 would find enjoyment on riding something that causes one deep seated fear. Those rides transport people hour after hour for years, even decades on end with no issues or injury to anyone. Yes, like everything else, something COULD go wrong but the odds of getting hurt getting to the amusement are far greater than any chance of getting hurt, or even inconvenienced on the ride. As for the other part about being on a ride that causes you nothing but fear, I again come up with a big WHY? It's not like people being afraid of flying and still get on an aircraft that is going to take you somewhere, especially if it is somewhere halfway around the world. The rides in amusement parks take you nowhere except back to the start a few minutes later. I can't go on rides with my wife at amusement parks. Anything that goes fast, upside down, or twists a lot is out of the question for her. She will go on the Farris Wheel so long as it is not the type that has the cages that you can rock or make go upside down. She screams at me if I try to do anything other than just sit and watch the world go by. She won't even go on the spinning cup and saucer type rides! To me it's not even a ride unless it does some, or preferably all of those things.
  24. Wasn't there some kind of leg restraint system that was attached to the ankles to draw them up tight to the seat when it was activated?
  25. Probably didn't see too many of those over the Thames.
