  4. I've watched the video Kevin posted......I think its excellent. My problem is I can't find silkspan. Does anyone know where I can get some or recommend a substitute?....Moab
  5. Javier; as usual your craftsmanship is outstanding!!! How the heck can you do all this so quickly? Have you ever tracked the time it takes to build these incredibly beautiful models? You inspired me to try making one of these (Alghero) and I'm working on my third hull trying to get it right. I don't claim to be a good model maker but perhaps I'll get an acceptable hull by Christmas. Thank you for posting these builds....Moab
  6. Y.T....I went on Lee Valley's website to spend some $$$ and the vice is out of stock. Incredibly it indicated it would be available December 4th....Moab
  7. I'll also vote for the Starrett. Beautifully made, accurate and lives up to the Starrett reputation...Moab
  8. Stwemac.com, a luthier supplier also makes a great router base which I've used for years. They also have a range of other tools that will help separate you from your money...Moab
  9. As I've said before; your craftsmanship is inspiring and the build a joy to follow... Moab
  10. I agree... the web site is bad. At first I thought this "hand cranked" sander was not for me. But when I thought about the types of sanding I do I began to think I could use this product. My "shop" is 6' x 12' and doubles as our office. With my current electric sander dust collection is a problem. Also some of my sanding needs are minor angle changes or touch ups so a hand cranked sander would work well. I also like the way angles can be adjusted. One downside (I think) is the inability to make compound angle cuts because the table isn't adjustable. ( I need to recheck the web site to check out the deck.)...Moab
  11. Thanx for the feedback. I need to think about it for awhile...Moab
  12. I read the comments above about the Vanda-Lay Acra-Mill Plus which were very helpful. I have limited space and already have a MicroMark drill press which handles my drilling requirements. I scratch build smaller ships/boats (1:100 +-). My "workshop" space is very limited. Anyone have any additional comments about this mill?...Moab
  13. Wow! Thanx to you Gary my learning process continues. Thank you...Moab

  16. Thank you Javier. My first attempt wasn't too good but I'll try again. Again, thank you...Moab
  17. Javier; when you begin applying the strakes do you add a small piece of wood at the bow and stern so the strakes have a surface for which to be glued or...how do you do this?...Moab
  18. Thank you for sharing this incredible build with us....Moab
  19. Igor; I just started following your build. Absolutely incredible. Can you describe your process for making sails especially the material used, etc. Thank you for posting these beautiful photos...Moab
  20. Javier; do you measure and shape strakes the same way it's done on larger models?.... Moab
  21. Clark; thanx for posting. Keep us posted as you work with the saw...Moab

  23. Thank you for posting your this project. A true work of outstanding craftsmanship. Where can I get more information on miniature scale building...Moab
  24. As a tool nut I'm always checking out various sites. In my other life I built guitars and the best online site for luthier tools is Stewart-MacDonald (stewmac.com). I've been using sewing needles glued in a dowel rod to apply ca glue. On the Stewmac site I found "Glue Loppers". I've used only one of the smaller size for about a month cleaning it with a lit match when needed. In my opinion they're great. They may be better than needles because they are very thin. They cost about $14 for 12. A bit pricey but I'm hooked...Moab
