@Old Collingwood, @Hubac's Historian, glad the sail positions along with the silhouette's look right. I'll try to add some furl to them also when I start the gentle rigging on them. Glad you guys like the way they look. As being my first attempt on these I'm very self criticizing so yawls opinion's helps! The boom sails will be last of course as all the others have to be in place along with the masts so I can measure them correctly and then make those from scratch also.

Going over the sail masts tonight making sure I still have all the parts and pieces to mount them correctly and looks like My stashing worked well. Going over all my prints; I'll mount the sail masts first then rig them then start to put the sail on each one with care. These sails are touchy and fragile, I suspect I will tear a couple during installation and will have to make some more.

Anyone have ideas for making those reef points quick? I'll need about 300 from my basic count and would like to make them on a assembly line if possible, just don't know how yet as I will search out the blogs later tonight to see others procedures.

Thanks for all the compliments along with good wishes. Finally things are calming down along with the Covid mess which hit home but we were fortunate it didn't hit our home. Other family members did have a bout and all recovered, but we had to scramble to care for them along with quarantine problems for three other homes. Freaking mess, and getting everything cleaned was extremely time consuming. But it's done deal now.

Here's some images for those still interested, sail prep with the masts along with reef points is what I'll be working on for this week. Should have all the masts finished by next Sunday then start slowly sewing the sails on, one by one for mast attachment. She's back on the table ya'll and again thanks for the patience!

I had used black walnut stain for the hull, Then teak stain for the hull outer ribs. I'll pull her back out and get some more images by tomorrow for you. Glad you like her.

Your planking looks good, this was my first wooden build also many years ago and I will admit I sanded for a months on my hull to get her looking nice. Here's a couple  pics of her:

Yep the flag is wrong, I changed her to a Confederate bomber. Will be following your build with interest. If you need some better images of mine, just holler.

In the above Alabama build by Jonathan11, these sweeps make sense and appear correct. He's doing a nice job on his build. 

These tracks for the Alabama are wrong per historical configuration. I used the supplied tracks on the molds for definition and cleanliness of the build.

My mistake, thanks for clarifying. I am wondering if you have the kit listed in another catalog from 1978 to the present? Very curios as to the cost of the original Bluejacket offering.  Again thanks for your time with this.

She's a beauty! Got more images?? Congrats!! Youtube has a lot of information on applying wash, maybe you find something there.

I'll do some checking, I purchase my wash when needed.

Just a quick update, I have gotten it down to three hours per sail for finished product and have been building away, I'll post images of all of them when finished. I'll tape them on the ship also to give a better idea as to what they will look like on the ship when finished. Delicate rascals, but I'll be a expert sail builder when I'm done!

@MrBlueJacket, many thanks for the research on her! That's fantastic you still have the original catalog from 1938 and the sub is listed in the catalog. Now I know it is from 1938 and have the Provence to prove it's rarity. How many ship kits are in the catalog? Can I have a pdf scan of the entire catalog or a copy of it? Will be glad to pay for it; for this documentation on the sub and have a reference for other older models to be on the lookout from Boucher. I don't mean to impose with the request as I know it takes time and effort to produce copies or a complete pdf scans.

Very nice! Have you decided if you will static display her or add water flow details to the base? Are you planning on turning her into a RC? Man she's a beauty and a bunch can be done with that size of a kit.

Very nice find for a rare kit. USS Crockett a hard model to find being in such good condition along with what seems most of the pieces. Look forward to your updates! Did it come with a motor system? Seems to be one of the old RC boat kits from the images I see, I also love to rescue kits I have interest in and always on the hunt, Hint, Hint @Bob G What yea got??

Many thanks Bill! Glad you like her. She not finished yet and will be awhile as sail building is a little slow to get all 28 done right and looking good.

Test build #1, worked awhile putting this one together to see if it will work for all the others. I discovered it will work ok, just have to fine tune some drying procedures and watch the coloring as I add some extra pieces. This isn't a finished sail for install as it was application procedural technic. The wire will not be incorporated as I was going to do, these mold into shapes nicely and eliminates a extra step towards the final product.

Seems the coloring works well with the model but I will be adding white highlights to the sails for some more definition.

Only to the master builders would anyone know the difference. Your representation is a beauty along with high quality craftsmanship. I look forward to more updates and in hopes one day I'll pick up the kit and build one myself.

Man ..... now I have to go out and buy one. Got to do them white touch ups on my sails and the only way to do them right is one of them BIG RED sprayers!! HMMM .... you know fathers day is coming up!

Well Phil since I have been following for awhile, I now know ways to make them miniature furniture accessories. How many magnifier's are you using to put those rascals together ... wow!!
