  1. I miss being able to call in at Hobbycraft on the way home from work (non essential stores not being allowed to trade here in the UK) and it's not the same doing browsing online.
  2. We've just had a flurry, about 2mm, looks just like semolina scattered around 😆
  3. That's making me shiver reading it🥶 Thank you, and stay warm yourself Jack 😉
  4. I'm impressed with your carving Eric, something I've never tried. Very nice work.
  5. Still off work due freezing temperatures, although to some -2 to -5°c is not cold 😁 So I've begun to make the rail posts, just 3 for now and will probably use 0.75mm rigging line for the rope rail. A test, I'm open to suggestions on this as I'm not really sure about it 🤔OMG this macro setting shows I need to tidy the painting up. The stanchions will also be either painted or blackened. Gratitude for stopping by and watching 😉 Cheers
  6. A little bit more done, the cap rails are painted and glued, I'm thinking of doing stanchions and rope as on HMC Alert. Finally have a acceptable ratchet for the windlass, just have to decide wether to go with one or two. After cutting the ratchet off and dry fitting to the windlass, I still haven't made my mind up. Thanks for looking in! Cheers
  7. She's progressing nicely EG, I'm also liking the impromptu history lessons along the way. Thank you my friend 🙂
  8. Well winter has come and low temperatures have stopped my going to work, so I'm doing a bit on the Cutter. Been making the cap rails from odd assortments of wood, which as they are going to be painted black, wood type doesn't matter. Lots of sanding, painting, sanding and painting again🙂 Also still wrestling with the ratchet part of the windlass, I'm on to #5 at the time of writing 😬. Thanks to everyone for continuing to follow and the likes. Cheers 😉👍
  9. Stunning Cutter, Tim, she looks gorgeous. You should be very pleased with yourself and rightly so!!😉
  10. I do like a tin top GT racer🙂. I'm in!
  11. Must feel pretty weird stepping out onto 'ground level' from the first floor😲
  12. It may be a bit late but Cornwall model boats do cherry and pear strips at 5mm x 0.5mm
  13. Throwing a spanner in😉 the works, it could have been a stray Congreve rocket! notoriously inaccurate, so could have been a case of friendly fire. The rocket regiments patron was the Prince Regent, so they were foisted on Wellington, who did not like them, but were frightening to face for both cavalry and infantry that they tolerated in the British forces due to demoralising the enemy troops.
  14. Could also have been fused mortar/howitzer shell, basically hollow shot filled with gunpowder and a fuse. Bit of a gamble because the fuse had to be cut the right length, else it went off too early. A bit like the grenades, that the grenadier companies used in the early 1700s
  15. That blue is just the ticket Denis, excellent adapt and overcome with the fuel ports. Very good looking plane 😉
  16. That Gorilla brand is good, their wood glue is also excellent, and the CA gel stops even me gluing my fingers to the model 😉 Can't wait to see turret interior detailing and the new kit!
