  1. Could also have been fused mortar/howitzer shell, basically hollow shot filled with gunpowder and a fuse. Bit of a gamble because the fuse had to be cut the right length, else it went off too early. A bit like the grenades, that the grenadier companies used in the early 1700s
  2. That blue is just the ticket Denis, excellent adapt and overcome with the fuel ports. Very good looking plane 😉
  3. That Gorilla brand is good, their wood glue is also excellent, and the CA gel stops even me gluing my fingers to the model 😉 Can't wait to see turret interior detailing and the new kit!
  4. It's worth buying the Cedar just for the smell😉 I'm looking forward to seeing another Winnie come to life
  5. I agree with Matt, in my humble amateur opinion, both W1 and W2 look fine, no!, more than fine, I would be happy with either version, but we all find faults with our own builds, that others may not see. I know if I built another Winnie I would use liteply, not mdf, for the bulkheads, for ease of cutting and fairing. At the end of the day it is your build and if you'd feel happier doing mk3, go for it. Btw the white hull looks good and you have W1 wood so best of both🙂
  6. I found the British TV show Called Battleground and hosted by Edward Woodward. I got two of the battles wrong, they were Gettysburg and Battle of the Nile, not Bull Run and Trafalgar. I also took some years off me as I was 13 not 8🙄 that's what happens when you try to recall events from 43yrs ago They did six episodes and they are on YouTube
  7. Some 40 + years ago there was a tv show on Saturday morning in England that refought famous battles in miniature, the ones I remember best were, 1st Bull Run, Waterloo and Trafalgar. The tables must have been 10' × 20' and the miniatures were always fantastic, basically it's what got an eight year old boy into proper wargaming instead of setting up knocking down games. Mark do you happen to know the name of the show? I'd love to see it.
  8. Very nice Craig, I love the touch of green, but then I suppose it is a Kawasaki!
  9. Thank you Patrick, I've done as you suggested, and it's now all ok😉
  10. 126 metres!! Most of the hills we have would disappear beneath that much😄 Yes we tend to get much rain but I've noticed we've been getting heavier, longer rainfall for the past few years, coupled with milder winters
  11. Reading that post makes me realise that British weather is pretty much non league stuff compared😂, stay warm and safe Jack
  12. That is huge, the Royal Greenjackets Museum has a 25sq metre dio, with over 30,000 men, gun and cavalry. This is 1:72 scale
  13. Oh man, that would be one hell of a dio, I've seen one in 6mm and 15mm but as you say you'd need a fair space at 28mm. I think the actual battlefield was about 4 or 5 square miles in area, though without looking it up ,I can't be certain
  14. Yes indeed, Wellington chose the battlefield well, but it was touch and go for a while, especially with the charge of the British heavy cavalry which could have been a total disaster, but Blucher and his Prussian army kept his promise and turned the tide in the last couple of hours or so.
  15. Yes perfectly sited and positioned to achieve mass fire power from all sides upon an enemy between the squares.
  16. Yes this and the time and manpower expended attacking Hougoumont, which was doing exactly what Wellington wanted it to do, presenting an obstacle to any attempt by the French to outflank the allies. Typically the French tried brute force of the massed columns against a veteran unit of the Guards who knew the destruction platoon volleys could do. Despite high casualties in the first assault the French just kept feeding the men in.
  17. A very fiddly hour and it now has two headlights, Note to self : be more careful with tiny parts 🤔 painting the camo next. Thanks for the likes and comments everyone 😉 Cheers
  18. Hi, if shipping had not priced it out of my budget, the Byrnes saw is what I would have bought, after all the comments and recommendations on here and elsewhere I would say it's a no brainer if you have the funds. Just my two pennies worth. 🙂
  19. Thanks gentlemen 🙂. It's ready for painting the camo now all the bits are fitted, although I do have to fashion a headlight as one shot off into the abyss of dropped parts 😒 Thanks for the likes and comments. Cheers
