  1. The odds are swinging in favour of the British now! Only 1 to 2😆 Keep it up and you'll have both forces done by autumn!!! Very nice work
  2. I'd forgotten you'd got this on the backburner as well. Looking forward to more updates 😏👍
  3. Excellent re-modelling with the back of him OC. 50/50 is a good compromise. They're coming along nicely.
  4. I bought one last month to try and save having to pay for pre-milled planks, have had decent success but would recommend also buying the 0.6mm blade as the one supplied makes more sawdust than plank☹ If buying in the UK, CHRONOS are pretty good, not the cheapest but supply ready for UK use, plus standard delivery in the price. Just my two pennies worth.
  5. @Kevin thankyou for that link, there was alot I didn't know in it eg the Dutch and German troops 👍 @Canute yes, if they are as well painted as the French, they will look superb. The 60th did get a mention in one of the sharpe books, Sharpes Regiment I think it was, but it's a shame they are not as well known as the 95th🤔
  6. And to good effect in all accounts It was an effective way of skirmishing, the British army formed the 60th light regiment from willing Americans but I cant remember wether is was before the 1812 war or after, they also were rifle green but without the black trim.
  7. Underling!! Damn your eyes sir, he's an officer!! Or Lord Cardigan in Waterloo to Wellington "I appear to have lost my leg sir"
  8. As the Duke said: The French system of conscription brings together a fair sample of all classes; ours is composed of the scum of the earth — the mere scum of the earth. It is only wonderful that we should be able to make so much out of them afterwards.
  9. I see what you mean, I think in the circumstances perhaps they should go into battle fully kitted up, we wouldn't want you to send untidy troops into the fight "old chap, what!!" 😆😉
  10. Thanks, and that sounds about the right ratio, 4 to 1 😁 Hmmm sniping from the sandpits across the road from the farm😏. Good strategy Ken take the french line from the flank😉👍
  11. The attacking force getting slowly bigger, I hope the KLG will be ready for the French assault 😋 Very nice work so far OC, I'm really enjoying this project 👍
  12. The cannon are looking great Tim, and when you've rigged them they'll be even better. All in all your whole build is super 😃😉
  13. Seems ages since I was here last, but I'm still sorting out the stern frames and window formers. As a break from working on the hull skeleton I had a practice cutting some planks. for a first ever attempt I'm reasonably pleased although I shall be buying the thinner saw blade for my proxxon, as with the throw away planks which I wont be using, I only managed to get 12 planks. The kerf being thicker than the cut plank I assume with 11 sheets you need about 23 from each?? Thanks for looking in and the likes. Cheers Edit:- the Cedar from Chuck is beautiful, and smells good too😁
  14. Most of the light skirmishing troops tended to leave unnecessary equipment with the regimental baggage as it gave them a better freedom of movement. The 95th and 60th Rifles only took their full quota of cartridges (60 per man), a quantity of small soft leather patches for a tighter therefore more accurate shot, horn of fine milled powder and a canteen of "water"!!! I'm not so sure of the French but I would assume they went packless also.
  15. Hello, or g'day if you like😉 From the sounds of it this could be a breeze with your previous 😁, looking forward to the photos of the aforementioned "footy" Good luck with your Oseberg and have fun👍
  16. and a slightly late welcome to MSW Your keel in the photo looks like a good start on a viking drakkar, hope to see the full log soon 😃
  17. Your question had me searching and in old English it's walu and means Stripe or weal, so by that definition it is a raised strip which is exactly what it is on a ship. wale also means a ridge on a textured woven fabric such as corduroy.
  18. They were fun though 😁, hours and hours to stand them all up then refight Waterloo, Salamanca and Talavera.
  19. Neat looking aircraft Denis, the black has worked well hasn't it?. I've been looking for another non-ship project and came across this while googling:- For £41 you get the frame and covering and then you can buy the gubbins to make it fly. I think it looks kinda cool😉
  20. Looks good, you could leave his backpack off as he is Voltigeur, he wouldn't want to be slowed down with gear!!! This book is worth a read, I know it's not strictly about Waterloo but follows the 95th through the Peninsula war and Waterloo. Sorry for the hijack OC😉
  21. I would never have thought of doing it that way, I probably would have tried to buy all the figures in one go and had the Admiral questioning my spending 🙄😋 Are you scratch building the farm or getting resin components? The two "Gros Frerès" look amazing OC, I'm already feeling for the KLG infantry.
  22. No, it seems to taper abruptly from the 3rd bulkhead, but when I marked it out for the planks the tic strips also showed tapering from the 3rd bulkhead. The planking worked out but I must do better. I think a little more patience and a sharper pencil for marking as the tic marks are not fine enough and did throw me out by .25 - .5mm. I can use the port side to refine my planking as I would like to be more confident with it before I start Winchelsea!! after a good sanding and one coat of danish oil, ther is a few parts that need attention to remove glue residue and some small gaps that need filling. Thanks for all the comments and likes, it's really appreciated. Cheers till next time 😉👍
  23. We have some great beaches but I can't vouch for the weather 🌧️☔⛈️😁😉 Nice work on your guns, everything seems to be coming together 👍
