  1. Looks good Mark, be nice to see you get some planking on her, but don't they make you tear your hair out!!, I'll admit I'm still trying to get the Triton stern sorted.
  2. In my opinion doing 2 or 3 more brigs is great as I'm a big fan of the two masted warships, maybe a small 1740's 20 gun frigate such as Blandford or Sheerness or slightly larger 24 gun porcupine class (Pandora or Pelican) before the heavies like Shannon
  3. That seems like an ideal rest and recuperation remedy, plenty of construction and painting😁, some 1st class finishing Kevin. Hope the recovery is fast and goes well.
  4. Thanks Tim, I didn't make them any particular length but the midship planks were about 5 inches long and the bow and stern planks were whatever it needed. I don't think it would pass a historically correct but I'm happy with it. You've done a fine planking job with your Alert. Personally if you like what you've done that's what counts 😉
  5. Hi again, thanks to everyone who has looked in and also for the likes. Planking on the port side slowly proceeds, as I put planks on from the keel and the main wale, I kept adjusting the marking out for the plank lines and it seemed to help. Another day and it's done, I'm much happier with this side than the starboard, stern planking is also done, but I think that I will put a moulding across the bottom of the counter. just need to give both side a good sanding, paint the main wale and a coat of matt varnish or oil. I am happy I've got the planking done, I'm hoping that when I do finally start to planking Winnie that the AYC will edge bend better than the walnut I used here. The cedar I used on Triton definitely in my opinion took bending alot easier!! Til next time Cheers 😃😉👍
  6. Finally got to watch the video👍 Wow, that looked fun!!! I don't know why but I never thought of one of those yachts heeling over. The camera shots were fantastic, gave a real sense of speed and exhilaration. I can see why you do it Jack 😁
  7. Lovely work on the head timbers!! you are doing a grand job on the whole ship, it's enjoyable to watch along 😃😉
  8. welcome to MSW With a build log you will find plenty of help and advice from other members. Good luck and have fun😉
  9. Belated great job on your model of the Rocket, I like the lego "volunteer" pilot. I think my internet is being mardy as it won't let me get on you tube at the moment, I shall try to watch the Rocket launch after the router has had some naughty step😤
  10. Exception to rules #1 & #2 : when the customer is on the phone and not in the store, in your face, they are always wrong. Insistence that you are right leaves you talking to a dead line😠
  11. Superb gun rigging, you're doing an amazing job with Sherbourne. With all the brilliant rigging of guns just recently in various logs, I can see I'm going to have to fully rig my next lot of artillery 😏
  12. So once again the French throw another column against the defenders in the farm!! Looking real good OC. The two KGL looked good with full kit😉
  13. I guess it's high tea but I suppose correctly it should be dinner but I have that at lunchtime so it's "me tea". Confused, so am I!! there's nowt so strange as the English 😆 How long do you think it will take you to complete the restoration? I also searched YouTube and watched one or two of the videos, it's quite a popular pastime isn't it? Some of the yachts look as though the pilot is just balancing on the beam, but it does look fun!!😁
  14. Thanks for the link Jack, there's some heart gone into the restoration. I shall be catching up after I've had my tea😉. Edit : I think its 1906 also, as the last digit is so different to the nine. Still have the two previous years to catch up on😃👍
  15. That trailer is a great piece of kit Jack, but then I suppose you need the lifting jib to get those large pieces of wood out. Do you use it step the mast as well? Hopefully you'll get some ice this winter 😏 , over here in UK we're getting wetter milder winters☔
  16. Sewing pins are cheaper and easier to source than wire stiff enough for the job required, 😁 necessity is the mother of invention. Great stuff Phil, this really is fun to watch
  17. Apparently his piles were playing up as well. Definitely a close run thing, to us Wellingtons words. I do think if Napoleon had been at Quatre Bras the day before, the battle at Waterloo probably wouldn't have happened and the British army would be experiencing a retreat to the coast harried by French cavalry. As it was Marshall Ney commanded and did not start an attack till late in the day which subsequently let the British rearguard hold them while the rest of the army slipped away.
  18. Thanks to all who hit the like button👍 So I began the planking on the port side with the external bulwarks and to just below the main wale. I've also lined the rest of the hull for planking below the wale. I shall take a bit more time with this side and attempt to improve on the starboard side!! thanks for looking in. Cheers till next time 😃
