  1. Jim, The chunks must have been a remnant of yeast or sediment. Quite a few Belgium beers continue fermentation in the bottle. The sediment I do not advise to consume. If you're not so lucky, you will get rather sick ... However, the beer is good, you just should take care not to poor the yeast into your glass. Duval, e.g. is one of those beers, and a strong one for that.
  2. Ed, Looking at your build sometimes give me the feeling I only want to sit quietly in a corner of your workshop, and observe you at work ...
  3. Jim, That's an oldy. Doesn't taste bad but it shurly kicks! I prefer Duval, or more in Adrieke's line Kriek Lambic. Belgium beers are the best. Don't even think about the Dutch ...
  4. Piet, You really put your teeth in it!!! It takes a lot of time to get that hull planked right, so far it looks very promising. Keep it up.
  5. Cap'n'Bob, That looks like a promising adventure! She has some lovely lines and as Wayne wrote: "The admiral has spoken" A very thorough argument. You should explain me some time what the 'south' has to do with the admirals remark ...
  6. Mark, I used a narrow chisel (10mm wide) to scrape the Dolphyn's deck ... I know yours is a tad longer and wider so it'll take a bit of time, but in the end you'll get there (sanding or scraping ...)
  7. Jason, If you would hardly make progress, you would be showing the same pictures again and again ... You might ask him/her whom is responsible for 'the maximum number of images per post in comparrison to build progress', should be somewhere in the rules and regulations department I would say
  8. John, I had some catching up to do. You have been quite bussy! She has a very crisp and sharp look about her. (Towel is a nice contrast to her colours, I presume it's a gift from the admiral )
  9. I like this plank on frame build. It gives you the feeling you're doing the real thing. I'll be browsing your log from time to time to see how you tackle problems, and challanges. Have fun modeling
  10. Danny, What's the Roman numbers about. Haven't seen that on any build before ... Rudder brasswork fitted looks marvelous!
  11. Tony, Wonderful, amazing job on the sloop. I've been looking at it, wondering if it really is as easy as you make it look!!!
  12. Alfonse, Havenlt been around a while, you have come up with some stunning details. Sorry to hear you have to diminish on building, but if you may have a larger building spot ... that should be worth the wait! Good luck moving. I've done my share of that and not enjoyed it much. Hope yours goes smoooothhhly
  13. Jim, Good progress since my last visit, you're really showing her off. It seems Jason is hanging back to let you make the mistakes Any hobbits left? I could use a few in the yard - without the popguns however.
  14. Michael, Sorry to read about that misfortune. Maybe we put to much time in building - and related activities - that we forget to take a breather so we can avoid our 'little' misfortunes ... You are making some wonderful detailed accessories for your lady.
  15. Very lifelike sails and sail accessories. Amazing the way they turned out. I had not expected such beauties ...
  16. Danny, Some very beautiful brass work. Did you use the same method as with their counter parts?
  17. Jason, She does look good. Even though you may feel other ships' lines are more elegant, she has her own beauty, and you've done her right. As JP wrote: The grating under your ship may be a little oversize for your deck. I wonder if you want to sink her on her maiden voyage using that
  18. Mark, Listen to the expert (Michael) He has used an alternative: See your deck as layered, if you don't like it just add the next. No kiddin', it's true what Michael writes, but you must feel good with it. Anyway, I'm glad you're making saw dust again and Janet is doing better. I like the look of the current version, though the crew should be on their knees at the other side ...
  19. Garward, I'm amazed at the improvements you make, time and time again. I can re-read your build log and each time I find something else I forgot, and remind me to keep it in store for when I'll need it - since it will be vaporised from my mind, I'll be reading your log again ...
