  1. Finally got some rain, only in the southern part of the province, the north is still dry. People say they have never seen it this dry, Rivers are low creeks are dry, I think climate change is here already. The first Mate has sewed the sail, she said she has enough to do a spare, hopefully I won't need it. I am going to be staining the sail light green, then take my airbrush and highlite the edges and seems. If that turns out well, I will spray the Dragon from a stencil I made. Hope it turns out ok. The deck is finished and the sheilds rails are on, most of the sheids fit nice, one sits high and one drops right though. Lol I had seven deck planks left, now I belive I am going to make the mast and paint my sail. Then some rigging, no ratlines 😐 . And I think for this boat I am going to make it on the ocean, so a trip to Michael's art supplies shop Is in the future. After I watch @hollowneck, work shop on water, again lol. And I got a buddy down in Texas who will help if needed. GRIN. Thank you everyone. 😊 Bob M.
  2. I knew if I tried to install the sheid rail, that I would end up installing the deck, lol. The deck went fine. I am going to install a final strip along the outside edge of the deck, it just finishes it better, I think. I toyed with the Dragon and the twins are anxious about getting underway, something about a monastery ripe for the pickin. . So I put my trinkets away ,and you guessed it, dropped the dragon, broke a horn lol. But a dab of CA and we are good to go. So now a little more sanding, add the cross bars then shape the mast, and start thinking of the sail. Soon I will be able to add this to the finish pile we got going here on MSW over 1271 plus one lol. That is so fantastic. At least the smoke has cleared, finally. It's still bad up north, and some of the locals up there have to evacuate , I wish them luck. No rain in the forecast either. This is shaping up to be a bad year for fires. I have been thinking about making a stand for the Green Dragon, but I really think I am going to put it on the water. This will be the first time for making water, lots of info about that here on MSW and a workshop on it as well. Lots of planning ahead, but the twins are helping lots as they want to get underway , like I say. I am having so much fun building this boat. A mythical Green Dragon Darkkar. And I can't believe I am almost 70 soon lol. And can you believe it , I am thinking about the King of the Mississippi River Boat by AL. That I will tee up next lol. Thanks for looking, and all the encouraging words members have sent over the year. They really have helped to keep me modeling . Now I can't see turning back. I sailed too far. There is just so many directions that one could take this hobby, it's that much fun. Later my friend's stay safe and cool 😎, Bob M.
  3. Vikings tend to tell longer stories when they are in their cups lol. And the story changes with each telling. Lol. Apparently more mistakes, Delany is his last name, Eric and Ryan Delany, two of the most feared Vikings in Ireland. Bone Hed Skul Viking Myths BSA have quit, gone , They are deathly afraid of the twins. Lol Eric is more freidly than Rayan, but they not that bad when they had a few, which is most of the time lol. Eric says that the Dragon figure head is pretty close, it may be a little darker than he remembers but he said something that made me laugh, it will do , lol I got this paint starter kit and I just love it. @Gabek showed me this ,thanks you. I am hooked on figures now lol. I painted the Dragon last night and the sheids both sides today. Everything looks shinny because I sealed it all with Shellac sealer. I will spray a flat finish when the time come. I decided on a yellow sheid rail, and for the floor planks, I am using a 5B pencil to blacken the edges, both of which I will install next week. Shipyard is closed for Mother's Day. It's coming along nicely in my opinion, minor things need attention, but smooths sailing so far. Speaking of Sails, Eric informed me that the sail is two tone green witn a black two headed Dragon painted on the sail. Looks like I get to try out my new airbrush I bought last year and a half ago, money well invested lol. So Deja vu, on to installing the floor decking lol then ,all the little things that go on the deck. Thanks for looking, and the likes Bob M .
  4. Well she got a little bow on the portside but other than that it looks ok. The planks had plenty of overlap, I thought I made a mistake because everyone talk about very little overlap. They are pre cut so it was not that hard putting them on. Now I just have to paint it. Delany one of the Viking Twins, has been filling my head with info. Apparently I got the name wrong, it is called "The Green Dragon " not just the green. His Fathers was kill in a battle, more like a massacre as he described it. Over a 1000 people were killed , it happen in Kilkenny, at the caves of Dunmore, in 928 AD . He told me how he and his brother buildt the ship after they father died. He left a will , a map, and the plans for the Dragon. That's all I got out of him before, you guessed it , into the Kraken lol. I plan on putting in the floor next. Looks simple enough. Hopefully when Delany sobers up 😔, he can tell me how she was painted. And was there anything about the sail that could help. Well on to the floor planking. Thanks for looking. Bob M.
  5. Very nice details, your planking is fantastic. Welcome to MSW. Bob M.
  6. After four days in the dryer, it is Still NOT dry. I guess I used the wrong paint. Oh well putting it together tacky. Lol I am going the have to redo the hood, it is that bad. But sometime in the future. This was a fun model, there are some differences between plastic and wood, pros and cons for both. This was my truck so I had to build one, now it's back to my ships lol. Some final pictures of my truck. Someday I'll come back and fix it all. But not today.lol This was fun, goodbye my friends sea you on the next build. Oh yes I have to put the decals on as well but another day lol 😆 This is where My 1972 Ford F100 will be parked for life , thanks for looking. Bob M. I'm marking it finished.
  7. Welcome aboard @md1400cs. I spent the day trying to understand the plans. Once I figured out most of what they did, I started planking with plank #11 right side, and quickly put on 12 and 13 as well. Then re-reading the plans, I guess I was supposed to put the planks on the left side as well. So tomorrow, I will start the left side, and once I catch up, I will alternate the rest of the way up . Not sure how long that will take, it seems that the Irish Viking Twins have shown up looking for the Bone Hed skul Brothers of Viking Myths BSA. Something about copyright infringement, and are these guys wild! It took a while and of course more Kraken Rum but they are calm for the moment. At least they have stopped chanting" Daudi Vid Skul Brodirs" I think it means death to the Skul Brothers. Lol. I will try to get some more information about their father and his plans for The Green, as well as names and some dates of when all this adventure happened. It may be a while, because I have to go get a load of Kraken Rum ;it seems to be their favorite. If it helps get info on The Green, I will buy a keg or two, depending upon the information they can provide me. Lol 😆. Oh what an adventure this is turning out to be already, and I haven't even got to the rigging yet. A little disappointed that there are no ratlines, but not really lol. At last I am planking, and then on to the decks , so much fun!!! Bob M.
  8. @Glen McGuire glad to have you both along, I haven't seen Captain Marvin. Last I hear he and his little brother Steve left earth. 😢. I could use a good Ship Inspector; these two brothers I got to replace Marvin are some thing else. I now have two empty bottles of Kraken Rum, and they stole the Pegasus boat and left. They did leave a plan of what they say was an old Norse plan of The Green. I asked the First Mate to help me translate old Norse to English and this is what she came up with. She's so smart. Some of the words were hard to make out but she believes that these are plans for a ship . I am going to follow this plan. The First Mate and I translate and separate all the parts and stored some away. I made a box to keep the right and left planks separated. Plus, they're all numbered. @Louie da fly meet the Skul brother's. The one with the grey pants is Hed , his brothers name is Bone. And they are the Bone Hed Skul Viking Myths and Builders BSA company . Like I said, they gave me a plan; said it belonged to two notorious Irish Viking twin brothers. Identical in every way but one. One was right handed and the other was left handed. Their ship was The Green. They were fierce ruthless warriors, so the story went. After the second bottle of Kraken, the story got fuzzy. In and out of old Norse and English, hard to understand. 9th century twins , illegitimate kids, father killed in some famous battle. The story went on and on. Their Death Vow to avenge their father, and to build a ship from plans that he had hidden away.. I will try to get more out of Bone Hed Skul, but I don't know if I would rely on them lol. Now I have to trim bulk heads 2 , 6 and 10. Then check how the planks fit and then some last minute sanding, then start planking. I'll let you know how it goes. And @Scottish Guy glad to have you along, some of this log may be Blarny Stone material, but it will be a fun journey lol. Bob M
  9. So glad to hear this my friend. Life is full of ups and downs, soon you'll be up to my favorite part Ratlines. Lol 😆 sorry Just glad Maggie is doing so well. 😅 you should get her a stuffed Penguin and chocolates to make her smile. Lol. Bob M.
  10. Fantastic job my friend, you come up with the best ideas, and it's amazing to watch you put it all together. thank you so much for the adventure . Good luck on your next journey, what ever that may be.
  11. Looks great Jason, Don't you just hate drying time lol. This is such a great log and story thanks. Bob M.
  12. The Mayflower has sailed up to the display case. It was fun putting it all together. Standing back and looking at three years of modeling, and two are not there that I gave away as well. It was a little crowded but they fit, I may change-up the look later on in life but for now it will look like this I am glad I took a half inch off the top of the main mast. After the case went back on less than a eighth of an inch clearance whooo whoops that was close . 😬 So some more pictures of the casing of the Mayflower. Thank you all who help on this build. I am learning lots just have a problem retaining it lol. That's it for this journey, after all is said and done this was a fun kit to put together. It looks good right out of the bow and you can upgrade things. After the Mayflower sailed, guess who showed up. Captain Marvin. And he brought his little brother Stev with him. He was not happy about the Mayflower sailing away before he could talk to Capt Christopher Jones about his recent lay off. Even madder still that he now has to find a way to sail on up to the case. Lol He told his brother Stev fire up the old " llludium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator" it time to make some fish and chips with you know who lol. LOL. Back to reality. I like thus ship because of the simple look and not a lot of colours. This is only my preference of course. I ready wanted to do better on tieing off things. The rigging is fun to do, just had to do a lot of guess work in regards to the colour of the line and the size. But it was a great learning experience, and looking forward to get beck to my Pegasus. But I want to do a couple of quick builds then a bigger one. After that I will return to the Pegasus. I was mistaken about my renewal date it's at the end of June not May. But I did start my first log here on May 21st 2021. And the two members who said hello for the first time still talk with me today . Although one my be banging his head against the wall , because I going to start yet another Viking boat log lol. But @Louie da fly don't worry I won't bug you to much. You have already answered almost every question one could have about vikings so I will just reviewe all the Drakkar logs. Then when it is finished, I will put it underneath behind the curtain, but will put a plexiglass in front. I would be amiss if I did not thank NRG and MSW for all that they do for us members. And thanks to all the members as well . I have had so much fun. Learning everything. And then get to learn it a0ll over again lol. There IS a lot to ship building, and I know you have to be patient, let the paint dry lol. But so many members have gave me idea on how to do things. Plus our data base. @Chuck fantastic planking videos. I really did watch them many times. Thanks for the help. Thank you all who helped along the way , there are so many I can't list them all for fear of forgetting one member. I join to learn how to build ships, I am doing that but also having so much fun. Every model is a journey looking forward to talking to you on my future builds. Thanks for the memories Bob M. I only try to be as accurate as I can, but when Neanderthals have fun they only want to make it look pretty 😍 lol 😆 Sea you on the next one. This is the first Amati Mayflower log on MSW to be mark Finished .😁
  13. My apologies to @Louie da fly for yet another Viking Long Boat. But it will be like no other Viking ship you have seen my friend. You will be green with envy lol. Yes the official box opening and look at the parts. One roll of line that's it , grinning already. So I laid out the plans and instructions and noticed an empty space were Captain Marvin usually is, was empty. Oh well I will miss the little fellow but you can't build a ships with out a #1 . So I hired two local fellows who tell of a Irish Drakkar that sail from Irelad in the late 10th century. It's quite the tall tail, might even be a myth, by the looks of these two lol. They tell a tale of a Drakkar that was called " The Green". Sound interesting so . I don't know if I can put that in he title but we will see. There story go's something like this. Enjoy. Taking a look at the plans and I am going to start numbering parts and putting things away. To day I will glue together the Keel and bulkheads together. By that time it will be be time to quit for the day So another journey begins," Skoal " Bob M.
  14. Motoring along all was fine, lol. I painted the inside of the door panels a Suede color, chrome window cranks with a black button rollers. This model shows a shift lever on the steering column. Mine was a 4 speed with a handle that ran all the way to the floor. It took seconds to slide it in to third gear. Maybe that's why it was hard on back tires lol. So I put the cab interior together and set it aside for now. Now this is were the fun started happening, lol . I put most of it together, jack, windshield washer fluid container put on. I even put the windows in. That's when it happened , I had a big Neanderthal finger print on the hood and the roof of the cab. So I taped it all up and resprayed it. Ok Fine it looks great. Nope , I flip the hood on the floor, can't fix it till it's dry. So I will put it all in front of the heater for a week. Lol Then I will repaint the hood, and put it together. That will leave the chrome and the decals, and lights. Well the paint is going to take a week before I will handle it again. I can't wait that long, so I am off to start a log for a Drakkar Viking boat. Soon as the paint is cured, I'll be able to continue. Thanks for looking. Plastic is fun and quick to glue together, it's the drying time that's a killer lol. Later Bob M.
  15. Amazing as always Bug , great job. So many lines oh my!! Bob M.
  16. Hello, this is the truck I bought in 1973, less then $4,000.00 (Cad) brand new lol. It was a great truck, hard on the back tires, but I was 17. When I saw this model, I had to buy it. After rigging the Mayflower ship, I wanted something with no lines , lol. So I started on Monday. The frame went well, the engine was fun to put together. Everything looked like my truck except the battery. Then I put what I could, together today. Now I am at a standstill till the paint drys. Maybe I should start a ship while the paint drys lol. Hope you like it, it's bringing back some great memories. The love of my life has told me four times to turn the stero DOWN lol. Paint takes such a long time to dry. Thanks for looking, Bob M.
