  1. I am thinking of building a plastic model of the USS Boxer LPH-4 (I am going to change it to the USS Valley Forge LPH-8) , so I am following your build closely. I have only build wooden ship models lately, so I will copy all your tricks and tips. Your work is excellent.
  2. Bob I'm finishing up my HMS Surprise which was banned from MSW? (I didn't know it was a banned Chinese knock off when I bought it). The next build will not be banned. I miss all you guys. Your work is magnificent. Rich
  3. Great work! I guess you are not masting and rigging your ship? I like it this way so the wood working can be better appreciated.
  4. There will be uses for the Dremel but I never put a power tool near my hull or any finished parts of the ship. I only work on pieces off the model.
  5. Very nice job on your hammock nets. They are tricky. Are you going to put hammocks in them?
  6. Check out my Connie. Maybe it will help. Good luck
  7. Is there any truth to the term, "freeze the balls off a brass monkey" that it relates to canon balls in a brass rack?
  8. There's nets attached to the hammock rails. The hammocks are rolled and shoved in from the top. They can also be covered. They are always "piped up" before combat so the hammocks can act as a shrapnel barrier.
  9. your attention to detail is enormous! I tend to measure my stuff with a micrometer, calculate it with a computer....then hit it with an ax!
  10. If we had to build another Noah's Ark...I'd pick you to build it. You are an amazing carpenter!
  11. I guess anybody who builds a USS Constitution runs into the same dilemma....how many windows to put in the stern. I went with three, but during my research I found out these ships changed configurations constantly.
