Very nice Mr. Dafi. But what is the craftsmanship behind adding photo-etched material to your ship? the twelve hours you stuck to your computer? The 30 seconds you feel like the pimp when showing it off here? I am sure we can afford: ....having the whole ship CNC milled and show it around. It will be more accurate and cleaner than anything you did and presented before. But is that the aim? I am sorry to say but i get bored to see how your glueing and presenting industry-produced pieces to your ship after having enjoyed to watch your ideas before for a long time. Everyone of us can order a photo- or whatever etched piece or whole ship somewhere in internet. It`s nice of you that you show your self drawn and ordered bell holder to us. Mr. Saemann did a really need job. But it dissapoints me in a way........ to whom the bell tolls. I know it may be hard for you to take criticism, but...you lost a follower. Regards xxxoxHarry

Hello Zyxuz, i just hooked up with your building log again after some time and i must say your progress is stunning. Very clean planking, very nice painting of the hull and the LEDs spend a really natural light. Cant wait to see photos of your fully rigged Race Horse next to the cannons of Fort Cornwallis in the sunset......;-)

Dear Johann, i just found your build log here. I am so happy that you finally decided to show your Creole in MSW too. The outstanding work on wood and metal and the combination of how you present it is a pure pleasure to watch. Especially how you plan your parts and how you perform them is always an amazing process. It would have been a great loss if you wouldn`t have opened a log here! Thank you again and looking forward to accompany you and the Creole from now on! Kind regards Harry

" I do have some unwanted globs of glue on one side. Any ideas on how to get it off? If I can't fix it I guess I'll paint them black and hope no one notices." If the glue was CA you can try to dissolve it with Acetone (Nail color remover). Apply it to the globs with a Q-tip and when the glue turns to liquid state again u can suck it with the edge of some kitchen paper sheet. :-)

Incredible work Daniel. Even though i can´t really see the stairs on the pictures i am happy it worked well with the paper. On small ships i make the sails out of japan paper also. Once they are stained with wood glue/water or spayed with white paint they become stabile and wonderful to work with. It´s only better not to touch them until they are wet....... Again, very nice work on the Santa. But the camera really reached its limits to show all the clean and detailed work. I really love it...Are you still sure you will give it away as a present now that it turned out so wonderful ?

Dear Folks! I got this Revell Kit as a present from a friend long time ago and kept it aside for a couple of years. Some month ago I got it out to build something "in between" and mainly to give the model back as present to that friend. The "in between" lasts approx. 8 month now because of long building breaks due to work and other obligations. Since the build will come to its final steps soon i will at least post some photos of the building process. I won`t make many words in between because it is only a plastic Kit. It is no simple OOB build but it is not changed a lot either. And it is the Santa Maria which does not belong to the most impressive ships either IMHO. But maybe the dear visitor likes it to browse the photos and maybe this or that can be of any need. Enjoy!

Thread for Thread
Hyposphagma replied to sephirem's topic in Rope Making/Ropewalks's Discussions about Rope Making
I will make a start and post a link to the companies i buy my thread from. Unfortunately i don`t know if they are available from Webdealers outside Europe. They provide all kind of thread in all colors for ropewalking and single use: https://www.guetermann.com For ultra thin threads i can recommend this (or any other) fly fishing shop: http://www.taimen.com/en/um/category/threads-tinsels-wires/53 -
Hey Daniel, for the stairs you can try cigarette or japan paper. Fold it, spray with paint and don`t touch it until its dry. Its still very thin but kinda stabile then and good to work with. Same goes for the sails.

Hello Alexander, obviously the whole MSW Forum had to break down before i recognized your build log. What a beautiful ship you are building. How clean and accurate work. I will surely follow your build from today on. Not only because we might be neighbors obviously....;-) Regards from Dossenheim Harry

Hey John, you can try a mixture of normal salt and white vinegar (+water) on your copper. The patination process will start within a few hours. Depending on the solution ratio Vinegar/water you will get different strong effects on the green patina that builds up. Other than that you only need Oxygene. Depending on the copper u used u have to consider, that esp. copper foils often come coated when bought. Before treating them with chemicals its recommended to sand them to get rid of the coating. In my experience its not recommended to paint or spray the copper after the patination process with clear paint because the copper turns very dark and looks nearly black then. If the green patina gets too much its always possible to wipe it off with a wet sheet. Harry

Its my plan to post pictures soon....But i guess you will have the bottle sealed until i`ll get the time to start a log about the Santa. ;-) Don't even get to work on it lately. But if i do i`ll let you know. Will you present the ship in the lying or standing bottle?
