  1. Hello Bill, Welcome back, you have been misssed. Yes, it is indeed sad that all the beautiful input was lost from this site. But together we have been working hard an already rebuild lots of our work. Thank you for posting this beautiful picture of your Souvereign. If it is in any way possible to revive your log, and you have the time, please do re-post it. I know it will make a lot of us very happy. I am really looking forward to your progress. Take care, Anja
  2. Every day may not be good, but there is something good in every day.

  3. Hello Sherry, I'm sorry to hear what happened to your brother and daughter. I wish them a complete and speedy recovery. Glad to have you back. Buildslip and bulkhead look great! Take care, Anja
  4. Tomorrow, Sunday March 24th, Sjors and I will participate in the "Dead Man's Ridge Walk" - to honor the 17th Airborne Division. They played a major part in helping the Allies win the Battle of the Bulge, the biggest and bloodiest battle of World War II. Sarah Lagoon (Slagoon) made us aware of this walk. Her grandfather, Melvin Lagoon, fought in that war. And this will be the first time he returns to Belgium. We are planning to meet him and his son Donald, Sarah's father....

Thanks to you and Sjors for taking part - have fun and enjoy your time with Sarah's Dad & granddad!

  5. Maybe a ship of the Loch Line, the Loch Torridon?
  6. Is it The Russian Tall Ship Kruzenshtern?
  7. Hello Theo, At this stage the hull is looking good. And sometimes you have to use your imagination to use whatever is needed to hold those planks in place. I'm looking forward to your progress. Take care Anja
  8. Hello Mobbsie, Yes, even at our age we are still learning. But as long as we're having fun….. But instead of cutting the lines individually and do it the long way, couldn't you just widen the cutting line a bit more to the left? That way the gun ports will have the right size. Just an idea Take care, Anja
  9. Is it a Halcyon class minesweeper, maybe the RMS Halcyon itself?
  10. Augie, you are right, without masts no rigging and no ratlines. I think Sjors is racing his two ships against eachother. The one that wins, will be the first one receiving its mast ..... And then the rigging must begin. I'm sure he will enjoy that and what you said about that microscopic dab of glue on each one (x's 5-10,0000). Take care, Anja
  11. Hello Mobbsie, Congratulations on finishing the planking. Well done! But I don't see any dip! By the looks of it you've already fixed it. But tell me something, we have just one hour time difference, but with you it's already March 17? Maybe you have to change the date in your camera. I will turn Skype on, but first I have to do some ironing and have dinner. Will be fun talking to a Mobbsie in the future (just kidding) Talk to you later. Take care my friend, Anja Sorry, I nearly forgot ..... Congratulations on your promotion.
  12. Mobbsie, It's getting crowded here. But .... Saturday isn't over yet. You still have time. Take care, Anja
  13. Hello Wayne, You are right. I don't see it in Bill's post, he did gave the correct name, but not the type. This odd-looking ship is indeed USNS Mizar (T-AGOR 11), a special-mission ocean survey/"ocean engineering" ship. Mizar was commissioned in 1958 as an arctic cargo ship (AK 272). In 1964 she underwent a hurried conversion to an ocean survey ship to assist in the search for the sunken USS Thresher (SSN 593); she was redesignated AGOR 11. After locating Thresher, she underwent a more complete conversion to her new role and embarked on a long and interesting career. She was taken out of service in 1992. More information is to be found here: http://www.history.navy.mil/photos/sh-usn/usnsh-m/ak272.htm Take care, Anja
  14. Bill, you have to be a bit more specific. Take care, Anja
