Thank you Piet. Better looks from distance, but I can not make good sharp photo with this camera. In close ups, for now, rope seems too be a bit masive, but I think still gives nice contrast and some kind of underlineing to the star and letters. I think all will fit well when missing parts of decoration will be done. All this time I was looking for 3D effect and look, and I think I've got it. In next life it can be more precise, but ... I am satisfied and can live with this Also, in such a scale, by my opinion, some points of decoration who gives authentical look and fill, and assume to recognize this unique ornament, simply must be a bit englared. Without that, such small, that point looks as splash of gold color, or just dissapeared, and whole thing lose it's feeling and expresion My booring artistic philosophy Now is 21:00 I come back from Novi Sad, and it is to late to start working on Her- 4,152 replies

Next challenge are much thinner elements of ornament, and here is attempt ( with preliminary painting) So small and thin, and very hard to shape and to glue, and to paint. The thinest drop of CA I can produce, even on a top of needle is 2-3x thicker than this little wire. Top of my thinest paintbrush seems so large as I try to write font 14 with baseball stick. Did I try again ? I do not think so For me, this moment, most important is that it seems that whole ornament (when done) will have main shape, look and feel as on CS- 4,152 replies

Second attempt ... Made from thin wood strips Ok, I think it can pass ... And now starts harder part with very thin lines, less than 0,5mm. I made some tests, and for now it seems that thin rope will take main role. We ll see tomorow- 4,152 replies

Thank you friends for likes and nice comments. Last couple of days, e.g. evenings, I posted from phone, and it is pretty clumsy to write long answers About cats/dogs and new puppy ... we all like animals. Dzuki, my 16 years old dog do not see and do not hear anything any more, and , I just can not do this to her - to bring home new puppy until she is live. That is main reason, I have no heart to put her in " as a jealous dog " situation. Let her live her days in peace and all love we can give Her About mess - as time goes by, it seems less important. But from time to time, I remember ... where was my today "smartness" and "brain" two years ago ??? About details and detailing ... today while I was working on decoration letters ( "Cutty sark" and "London"), as yesterday making version #10 of rope under letters, I felt strong fear to slide to dangerous, never ending way ( again because it can be a little bit precise, a little bit similar, a little bit ...., and over and over and over again). Banged my head, and stopped. " ... Hey, boy, this letters are UNDER stern, and who to hell will get down on his knee to watch this on model ? ..." Little part in that had 2 hours for "Cutty" letters and another two for "London" letters , and attempt to make some "plastic" and "relief" letters .... just a idiot ... Thank you Omar, I am glad my posts are useful for somebody Thank you "Ship wizard" for dropping by and comment. Little digging information about "Star of India" sign ... and become a little confused ... Do anybody know reason why this sign is on CS? Wikipedia get me confused ... Hey, Piet, I follow your Log very closely, and like to read about your father and his service. Also admiring to your phenomenal work CaptainSteve, it is obvious I have a bad influence to you ... as to Bob ... Mark And Denis, thank for your support and good words ... your presence and comments, as well as your works, turn me on to try to pull out best from me So letters are done, rope is done, and to see what section is next ...- 4,152 replies

Backward First try Looking for technique to apply Bob, this can not be done only by C-plans. Zooming, you can see only bunch of lines without sense. But it gives pretty clear plan of main pieces/fields of whole ornament- 4,152 replies

Ahhh Hard for me is easy to somebody. Easy for me is hard for somebody .... Generaly, I think scratch build is harder than kit building, POF is harder than POB, more details are harder than less details, more rigging is harder than less. But you can always give more complication to model than it have to be. Sometime it depends of your ambition VS your skills. What to say ... if you like challenge, and have great patience and a lot of time without un/neccessary hurry, nothing is hard ... is my Star of India hard? Year ago - yes. Now, I dont think so if you want to put 2 hours of work on table ... Another Cutty ? I'd like that, but ... somebody likes sails, somebodyikes cannons, somebody likes galleys somebody likes nice hull lines Please let me know about your next log, and hope to see you arround Nenad

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
