At some stage, probably much later in the build process I will probably buy another Sphinx kit and build it in slow time, taking greater care which I hope will be built to a higher standard.

Vanguard just shipped me the Alert, I got the Lady Nelson to practice with before the Alert, quite a price difference. Didn’t want to ruin the Alert first time out 😆
i got the LN as well but then after starting i only checked the Alert Manual.
Both models are designed by Chris but the Manual for his new Creations is UNIVERSES apart from the LN, also his own kits adress some frustration-issues (both in the manual as in the Kit solutions themself)

Now i need to re-slice the Voyager and scale it back to original stl size but i need time over the weekend for the print - my problem is that the printer is in the attic, which is basically another apartment above ours (with separate door) so i cant just casually check up on it while doing other stuff.
It's not a problem to go up, but when i go back down i somehow cant focus on other tasks bc i'm nervous something will go wrong

So, first Test-Print failed, luckily i went and checked - the base layers stuck to the Build plate correctly but the next didnt - they stuck to the FEP Film instead...
Propably (Hopefully) due to the Fact that i am using another Resin - ELEGOO Water Washable, i loaded now the RERF File and will see what the result will be

Thankfully I had plenty of acetone to clean my fingers after each session
hm, luckily the Admiral has enought Nail Polish remover (and it worked for me), i am actually more concerned if i can safely remove the stains from the model (or actually paint over them as they appear mostly below the waterline on the Stem)

What they did was sent it in three shipments, the Printer and Wash & Cure was shipped out of Chino CA. and the Resin was shipped out of New Jersey, all in separate packages...
The resin will arrive in a few days, they do have a tracking number for the resin shipment but the shipper doesn't send it to you... I got the tracking number by complaining to Anycubic on their website contact form about them not delivering the resin.... I did the same thing and ordered a replacement from amazon as well.... They didn't respond for three days cause of a Chinese holiday they were observing..... The two shipments of resin arrived on the same day....
You would think they would get a clue...... But it was my only complaint.... It will arrive in a couple of days.....
Nice setup.....
Thanks, we have an attic Space which the previous owner converted to living area for one of his Kids, so we have extra Space for a "smelly machines" room (and another room for the admirals gym + a small bathroom)

Manual is the same, it just has the parts list corrected and extra pics for the masts and yards, which are fully detailed in the plans. One of the reasons for the price increase is the higher cost of the Rev 2 manual, these are not cheap...
but the manual will always be available online, right ?

huh, you make me fear for any success with this printer
First off i'd like to print the Test-Cube and then maybe a RERF before moving on to stuff the Admiral wants (like flower pots for all her Cactus collection)

I hope to complete the planking in the next couple of days. We have our 10 month granddaughter (and her parents) staying with us for a few days but I'm sneaking a bit of time in the shipyard during her naps. I also having to make all the arrangements for my Mum's funeral who passed away last week after a short illness, aged 92.
Sorry to hear that

My anycubic package arrived today but we agreed with the admiral, That we wont Assemble them in the Apartment. Over the weekend we will put together a desk Space in the attic for it (Gotta make the Space there first)

There are various ways to handle and store the IPA. First, realize that the used IPA will contain uncured resin after a wash. And therefore, it stinks like resin. So you want a good seal on your container. I use plastic pickle jars:
https://www.amazon.com/LOCK-HPL933BT-Pickle-Container/dp/B06WD1F7HD/
I don't own a wash/cure, too much bother. You can use the IPA several times no problem. Maybe keep two jars for 1st & 2nd wash. You can leave the IPA in the sun to solidify dissolved resin, then strain with coffee filters. Some invest in distillers to get the best cleaning of the IPA.
hm, maybe i should ask my Dad if he still has Granpa's old Distilling station

Hi Egilman , since I have a new buildpate on the way I've sanded down the one I have on hand - it's right around 0.115mm (the note I got from the "engineer" said anything less than 0.15mm would not impact a print - which might be true so I'll give it a go and see how things turn out. Part of me thinks it would be nice to have two build plates as I'd like to build a wash tank that I can drop the build plate onto without removing the parts - so when I am removing them there's less of a chance of dripping or unwashed parts attempting to launch into orbit during the separation process.
On another note, my tiny little Photon S is down, I got a tiny leak in the FEP and and the resin cured between the LCD and the underside of the FEP... the LCD ripped out when I pulled out the vat with almost force required - so I have a new LCD on the way but I also bought what is essentially a screen protector for both machines in case that happens again - the film covers the entire LCD screen and a bit beyond it....so those should at least mitigate some risk there.
have you considered those flexible magnetic build plate additions ?
They do require a flat magnet to be glued onto the buildplate tho so no idea how that would impact "flatness"
