Rich, Two things.... For the chain ,let them try to follow the line of the shroud. Second, I see that you cut off your lanyard just behind the deadeye. Make the lanyard longer and when you are going true the last eye, turn it a few times around the shroud. If you are now putting strength on the shroud, the lanyard will come out of the eye. Sjors

After 4 day's of trying to get the copperplates right on the rudder , it is done. It was a lot of re-do but that's part of something I never done before. Because I want to make a brick pattern on it and I ended with small pieces. Lot of cutting and saying bad words when it was not right..... I'm not fitting the rudder at this time because I have to figure out how the pintles are coming. So the rudder goes into the complete box till I think that it is time to place it. Sjors

Sam , The windows are looking just fine ! Then about the breech rope, The eyebolt for the breech rope on the bulwark has to go a little bit more to the left ( and on the other side to the right...) Then the breech rope goes to that eyebolt without a block but true a eyebolt that's on the carriage And it's touching the deck. So ,when the cannon is fired, it can go a little backwards but not to much. Otherwise you are damaging the bulwark. The way you are doing it now, it has no space to go anywhere...... This is not critic but only help.... Take a look at Augie's build how he touch the eyebolts. Sjors

Chuck, I was reading your log about the Cheerful and I have seen one Dutch model that you thought it was a fisherman ship from around 1950. I knew there was something wrong about it so I have search the internet. I found this drawing and picture. It's a beurtschip (like a Barge ) Sjors

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
