  1. That took some mighty creative thinking to come up with the method to build those buckets. Well done. Bob
  2. Wow, such fast, yet beautiful and accurate work. Seven days ago you show us a bucket, and just look at all you've done since. Wow. Bob
  3. She's looking wonderful and the rag on top of the deckhouse is a master's touch. Bob
  4. Hi Patrick, I'm not planning on making the props until near the end of the build so they do not get damaged. But this website shows the way I like to build props of any size. http://www.rideaunautical.ca/articles.php?article=propeller But for the small props of the ships boats I will cut notches in a flat sheet, to form blades, and twist the blades to shape. They will only be .125 - .156 inches (3 - 4 mm) in diameter. Hope this helps. Bob
  5. The location of the bunks looks strange. I'm used to them being placed athwart ship and a door to the deck as well as to the inner common room. Was this arrangement common, and when did it change? Bob
  6. Thanks for your comment, Michael. We worry when we don't hear from our friends often enough. We're glad you're having fun but don't forget to check in and say, "Hi"' once in a while. Bob
  7. As for the second question. Most of my boats have been built by adding the keel after the planking if finished. I place wood pieces across the deck and use rubber bands to hold the keel. Bob
  8. Thank you all for the kind words. Yes, once I convinced myself that I could make boats that small. they were fun to build. Now all I have to do is convince myself that I can make the two props at .125" (3mm) diameter. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can. Bob
  9. I decided to take a break from the Pequot itself and build the three ships boats. There were two launches which may have been alike, but I wanted to make then different, and one dory. The two launches which are 2.75 inches long will be mounted amidships and the dory is 2.5 inches long and will be at the port stern. Now it’s back to the Pequot. There’s still a lot to do on the main deckhouse, rails on the upper deck, and on, and on. We’ll just have to wait and see what Bob will do next. Bob
  10. I agree with Patrick, I like the full hull photos. Just a word of warning. You better watch out for the dog in the last picture. He looks like he wants to play with the brass you are holding. Bob
  11. How about aesthetics, or doesn't that count? When I was designing I always tried to make it look good. IMO a small bump of a curve on the upper deck would look odd. Bob
  12. That's just what I suspected, that grain of rice would feed the whole village. Bob
