even on plastic kits I've built in the past, blade sag has always been a problem. the long blade seems to amplify the weight. I'd go back to my model weeks later, to find that they have sagged to the shelf! I have my fingers crossed that you have a good remedy for this Danny this is one fabulous model you've built........I'm in awe of how it's coming out........you've mastered card with ease here's a good question for you all : we all know that the pilot tube is an integral part of the craft.........much like the MAP sensor in an automobile. is the refueling tube an integral part of the craft.......where is it stored when not in use, ........or...........is it fitted when the mission at hand is determined...........the duration of the mission, and will it need to be refueled in mid flight? {just play'in the devil's advocate here }

I have a friend in the air force who is a refueler on a C-130...........a lot of skill shown there the model is looking very good Danny. odd that they didn't have you reinforcing the entire assembly.......the blades are reinforced. has to be a lot of weight...........not of paper, but the length doesn't do it any favors. do you think a coat of flat lacquer would help?

I know how it feels.......I have the Lindberg "legends of the sky" kit of a P-47B thunderbolt vs an HE-111 German Bomber, 1:72 scale...I got it from a yard sale. I started it and found that the Thunderbolt is missing the canopy. god knows where I'm gonna find one for it I hope you have good luck.

now into August.........poor thing has been sitting on the table, waiting for me. the time away has done wonders for the lichen......as the wood seasons up, the lichen kept growing. note the one in the left front area hope to get back to her this week end

your progress is really good Kevin I must admit though.......I haven't heard of too many that has used solder on PE. I thought about it, but always ended up using the recommended adhesive...CA.

I'm glad I didn't miss you.........I've been so predisposed. Tulpijn has become more than you envisioned her to be..........her evolution has been awesome to see so far. with the added deck fittings, and now the masting, her looks will change even more. so glad to see you another summer time of fun!

thanks John and OC..............thanks also to all who hit the like button I may have enough railing after all.........I found another section that I had been using for the upper levels. I though I had used it all, but I breathed a sigh of relief to find that I hadn't I still may have to cut down the height along the mid ship, to allow for the 5 inch guns, but they are movable, so I can just swing them out of the way. I'll let the cat out of the bag now........I was disappointed with the planes. the insignias will be a welcome sight, but the numbers will be omitted.......they are simply too big for the fuselage even the 'Navy' decals are too big. I scrounged through the decals I have on hand, but I could find nothing smaller that will fit. one nice thing about all this though, is that should I ever need any decals that are that small, I now have a source where I can get them. I'm also on the look out for another decal program.....the 'decal it' program just doesn't cut it anymore.........I have expanded beyond it's means..................I want something better that and comparing the decal sheet from Hannant's to the sheet from the kit.........there is quite a bit of difference in the scale size of the decals. I'll see what I can get to in the next update. thanks to all who are following along

this week was a total wash..........spent two days digging up a bush for the landlord. why........I have no idea >shrug< I did get a little done on the Arizona......the railings are in place on the aft deck, and the two aft turrets are in place. ......another step closer

I've seen these at Hobby Lobby......the brand is called Metal Earth. the admiral liked a couple of the butterfly models, so she bought them. I already botched one of them there are others, although I'm not sure they go by the same name. I couldn't get the tabs to line up.

for the simulated calking, I use something similar....an archive pen. I even bought a bottle of India Ink and refill the one i'm using your posts look great by the way.....even the two that stick up. I believe they are called sampson posts

I've had two kits of the older production Nordkap.........I had the same problem in the beginning. just recently Billing has been producing some of these fitting kits. I was able to buy a kit for the second Nordkap kit, Although I'm building it as the Progress........a bit of a variation you could go to Billing USA and cherry pick the parts you'd need, or see if they are producing the fitting kit for the Marie Jeanne. if you have a break down list, it will make life easy for you. Billing Boats USA I have the Artesania Latina kit in my stash.

"Pop goes the Weasel" I alos have some Abott & Costello shorts.........look for the one, "your not here" nit pick'in right along.............at long last........the two lower mast arms were added to the fore mast! I tried to affix them higher , like at the bottom of the 'director station' {main station, as listed in the instructions...it's broken up into four parts}, but they would not fit right. they fit well where I have them. they would have interfered with the short mast top, that is in the back of the station. here is a better shot of the radar and direction finders. though it has been addressed, the paint seems to be convoluted.....I'm at the end of the bottle, and it needs mixing often. the next milestone arrived with the anchor chains. it's the smallest I got. the anchors are in place as well. two on port side, one on starboard. for now, the capstans were added to the bow the other 5 inch guns were added to the aft deck. at a later point in time, these guns were removed........I believe they were to be replaced with pom poms. on the top of the fore mast station, there is a radar platform.......I didn't see it in the Tom's PE set, but it is in the diagram picture. I found a suitable platform in the Hood PE, and I added it. the short mast top is also added. there is one on the main mast, but that is a machine gun platform. on that tri pod, I added the other radar unit, the short section of mast, and the spotlights. I jumped the gun earlier............here is the anchors and chain set up....... I even added the tiny bits of chain that holds the anchor chain.......slips my mind as to what they are called. the holes are drilled slightly larger and I added three more holes near the capstans. #1 & #2 turrets are cemented in place too. I added ladders to the side {one side} of #2 & #3 barbettes ** gotta touch the paint work** on the aft deck, there are five or so hatches, leading to below deck. the two alongside the turret are closed........the others are open outside of a little more touching up here and there, it's as far as I've gone. I pre-painted the railings.......I guess that will be next on the list.....errrrr step list is a bad thing for a ship!

now....I didn't want ya to think I sluffed off on 'Zona'.........the heat was unbearable this past week { as Craig can attest to}. I'd do a little here.........and a little there........but in the long run, I think I made a couple of decent milestones! first thing was to paint the lower part of the two tri pod masts I painted up a few other PE parts while I was at it. I noticed that there was a second pulley on the boat cranes. I trimmed up the PE pulleys........but I seem to have lost one of the cranes! I looked all over for it, later finding it on the floor in front of the main table. how it got there, I have no clue the railing needed to be fixed, since god know how many times I must have stepped on it.........that was the only damage with the pulleys in place and painted, they were fitted into place, the direction finders and one of the radar units was also cemented in place. the 5 inch AA guns were added to the deck as well.......these parts still need to be touched up. the 11 inch guns will be added later. a roof was made for the small structure that fut over the plastic abomination that sits on the aft deck........added that along with the vents. the last pair of lockers were added to the base of Barbette #3 I'm forever touching the deck up

you can call me either.....but don't call me late for dinner yes....I've mentioned the Hood. but all I have is the 1:350 PE set for it. I still need to finish the HMAS Vendetta.......some of it has filtered into the Arizona build as a plus, but that's the reason I bought it. I've also tried to put some of the other parts together........some success, some failures................but no Hood I can get one though, if you want me to........{I love whims}! Foot note: I am doing well on my Popeye laugh! since I got my dentures, they kinda knocked me back a couple pegs {I was at around a 98% 'nailed it'}. I have gotten quite used to the new choppers, and I'm about to celebrate 1 year with them. I've gotten comfortable enough to do the laugh in public.....so if you hear it in a store, you'll know I'm around I used to do it anywhere........it's one HELL of a crowd pleaser, and kids like it too! sorry.........I went to Bangladesh for a moment there..........on with the shooooooooo

...or if you have some thin half round stock {Plastruct or Evergreen} , you can heat mold in into the oval shape you've made there when I first saw the picture, I thought to myself........"oh look, he's making them out of cheese!"
