Hi Mike Mmmmm, I think I can hear the waves lapping at the hull as she slices to windward....yep. Not long now, once the deck's done. Have you done a floatation test yet? Cheers Patrick

HI Greg and Igor Thanks for the support! Igor - those little people look amazing. Is there an English translation to the page, though? Cheers Patrick

Hi everyone Today I actually started on Magellan's hull. As mentioned before, I intend to fully fitout Magellan's interior accommodation; all four decks of it. How I intend to do this is by allowing each deck to be lifted off so that the interior can be viewed. Talk about a challenge!!! Oh well, if you don't try, nothing would be achieved. So, without further ado, the photos below show the start of the hull. It may not look like much, but, hopefully it'll turn into one hell of a beauty! A very long way to go, of course... Wish me luck! Cheers Patrick

Hi Brian Marvellous work on the rigging, especially the working sheaves and blocks! As far as the anchors are concerned, oh well, it'd be a minor redo, on what is an overall excellent build! Nice. Cheers Patrick

Hi Nils Lovely, lovely, lovely work! Once again, for me, it's the rivets on the bulkheads that adds so much realism. Nice! I'm just curious as to whether you'll paint or chemically blacken the brass handrails later on? Cheers Patrick

Truly outstanding, Igor. I don't quite understand how you used the CA to fix the crack, but, nevertheless, whatever you did worked. Really nicely done! Cheers Patrick

Hi everyone It was such a lovely day outside, that I decided to take some better shots of Symphony out in the bright sunshine, with the wind actually filling her sails. Here's what I came up with. All the best! Patrick

Hi Mike That sounds very familiar to me! I often thought "now, how am I going to fit this in...oh yer, just cut the deck open again...! I look forward to seeing how you pull it altogether, for no doubt, she's gonna be a beauty. Cheers and all the best! Patrick

Hi Mike Sorry, but I meant to ask in my last post how you were going to access the RC equipment? I'm sure you've got that thought covered, but I was just curious! Looking good, as always. Cheers Patrick

Nice set of tools, Mike! I had a little chuckle about the TSA officers, but funny as it seems, I guess that's the price of safety, nowadays. All the best! Patrick

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
