Once again, nicely done Nils. Those figures give a good indication of scale. They must've been quite large structures in their own right. Cheers Patrick

Hi Mark A minor update, but it shows just how useful the Death Star is for you. I bet there are no regrets in buying it. Also, silly question time - but how did you do the profile for the waterway plank? Cheers Patrick

Hi Charlie I'm enjoying watching your little beauty take shape. Those Revenue Cutters must've been the epitome of style in their day. You know, slick, fast and super cool to look at! Keep up the great work. Cheers Patrick

Well done, Elijah. You're doing a brilliant job on this ship. And, what's more, learning and having a great deal of fun along the way. I especially like the stand/base board that your ship's sitting on. It really looks the part. Have a great week and happy modelling! Cheers Patrick

Hi Kayakerlarry Off to a great start. I noted that the photos date back to 2013, so I'd imagine you're well ahead by now. I can't wait to see where you're up to now. All the best. Cheers Patrick

Looking really good! Cheers Patrick -
Hi Denis Thanks for mentioning me. I don't think it was actually me that made that comment though, because I always refer to have comprehensive plans to work with. Nine times out of ten though, I don't. So, it comes down to some guess work on my part. I'm also really curious to see which winch arrangement that you eventually go for. Whichever one you choose, I'm sure it's gonna look great. All the best! Cheers Patrick

Lovely work, Mark! SWMBO must be pretty tough on you, but...Janet didn't earn the title for nothing. Best to obey...! UNLESS..... Cheers Patrick

Hi Julie Thanks, but now I'm blushing! I really appreciate your comments and like you, I'm constantly amazed (and sometimes envious) at the skills that other modellers have. I guess that's what makes MSW such a great place. All the best! Cheers Patrick

Hi Gary Many thanks and I greatly appreciate your compliments! I'm not sure about the 'master' tag. I guess it just boils down to the fact that I love this hobby and in doing so, I love what I do. Have a great week and welcome aboard. Cheers and thanks Patrick.

Hi Frank Many thanks...but, I swear, it's attributable to lots of glue, putty and a large dose of swearing! Have a great week. Cheers Patrick

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
