Hi all, right the decaling process has begun - I started on the tail again with the two tail flashes, then I moved onto the two fuselage roundels, all these went down fine, next it was the side code letters, again these were placed but on the one side where there is a strengthening bar I am having to have a play around using a few coates of micro sol to get it to settle over the bar shape.
It is currently sitting waiting for the decs to set.

Just seen this welcome aboard, did I read it correct - you are doing her as she appeared after the Battle of Trafalgar ie with battle damage?

Can you lightly sand the blue a bit to smooth out the dried on glue, then re paint it?

actually they were one of the easiest bits of the build, the ladder handrails ( not fitted yet) took far longer
Looking really nice mate.

I would have loved to put them with the enormous 1/4 ducati but I had already sold the 1/6 honda and Suzuki on ebay for the princely sum of £3.50
"What - made" that was bad your workmanship deserves far more than that.

what do you use for the radio wire, EZ line?
I have some fine fuse wire 3amp I think might try that, it attaches to the leading edge of the tail, what I might do is to drill a pilot hole in the edge of the tail then push the wire into it with a dab of ca, then attache the other end to the pe wireless pole on the fuselage.

Your figures very lifelike, Frolick. Market-Garden was very sad time and a royal screw up by Monti in my opinion.
I used to know an old timer who was there, he was a British Para dropped in there out of a Dak, but had a sad tail to tell - he was dug in with his mate in a pit with a morta whne his mate was shot in the head by a sniper, very sad, he alas has since passed away, but a photo of him was in a book of the operation showing his expression just after it happened.

The lace wheels are amazing.
Quite an artform for lacing and tuning a wheel using a rig with center blocks you position each side with the wheel center centtered, then you turn the nipple on each spoke increasing or decreasing the tention pulling/releasing the rim till it dead center between the block, you do this all around the rim till its true. (I used to build repair bicyles for a living years ago)

Great rescue OC. Looking damn good. NICE painting 😁
Thank you edward, some way to go yet, but atleast it shows the general finish, she still has to be re - decaled and to have her flat coat over her, then a few small bits and pieces like the bomb bay doors - 500lb bombs, entrance hatch door and ladder, and a radio wire.

Yes, it is a bit easier but I am glad I finished the front wheel. Once you get the pace, it goes relatively smoothly. The trick is to be organized and to do one spoke at a time.
For the MPC model at 1/8, I did not replace the spokes.... I do not know how this Japanese Kinishi Karube does it, but I am not able (or willing) to spend so much time perfecting a plastic scale model.
So, here is the process:
Both sides done, all chrome paint removed, ready for gluing:
Details of the insect pins used for that model:
Gluing phase. You need a lot of clamps, as there is a tremendous pressure for both sides of the wheel to split: Plastic glue with a layer of CA glue to secure the whole thing. Let it dry for a few hours.
Ready for mounting the tire:
And the front wheels finished: the MPC model is a lot easier to put together....
Re-spoking is a lot of work, but I believe that the end result is worth it. Notice the difference of tires: Tamiya has Bridgestone whereas MPC proposes Good Year. Tamiya tire is 3.25 x 19 and MPC tire is 3.75 x 19. Slightly wider on MPC and their "9" looks like a "0".
Yves
I've laced and tuned cycle wheels but never a motorcycle.
