At the time it was built early one, it was the best.  Sadly, it was also the only one at the time they ship overseas easily.   We and the Brits had the docks and equipment that could load and off-load bigger tanks but no place else did.  The LCT's couldn't handle anything bigger.

Ah.. well, yes.  We do discuss the histories, etc. also do it on the ship model logs.

Yep we like our chatter  us lot do.

Wow.... 40 posts and nuthin’ is even glued yet? I think you boys are waxing a bit sentimental over this ol’ Sherman......😀😇

Getting all the essential  nibbles in first  - Mark is leading with his cupboard on wheels  with popcorn,   I'm making some  hot dogs  but  the hob is on low  - dont want the dogs getting to warm before the rest turn up.:dancetl6:

One thing to remember OC. The Sherman was primarily an infantry support tank and as such performed quite well. Even the Russians seemed to like it even though they has access to their very capable T-34. The Shermans also did quite well against the earlier German tanks from much the same design period like the Panzer IV. Later, after Normandy when faced with the Tiger and Panther not so well, at least not when confronted 1:1.

It was considered a good tank over all which is why it was still modified and used by many countries until well after WWII and all of the way through the Korean war by the US. They were still in use by some countries as late as 1980.

Thanks Lou,   I remember seeing the difference in films like Kelly's Heroes  when the Sherman tried to take on a Tiger.

Those are nicer than the ones in the Hasegawa kit, which are solid, and they'd be a real pain to hollow out evenly. I'd have to go resin to get that look.

Yep  its a good move by Eduard to make them hollowed out  -  I can imagine the effort to try to hollow them out by hand  (enter cross eyed emoji)

  5. Good day everyone  hope all are well,     I decided to do a bit more this afternoon  as the weather was pants  with light rain  so no sitting in the back patio,  so  I decided to work on one of the exhaust manifolds  - this is built up using four sections,   after assembly  I painted the insides of the exhausts flat black  then I made up a bronzy type colour by mixing flat black/flat alum  and red ocre,   then after drying  with my friend  "Harold hairdryer"  I glued it in place iniside the forward bulkhead, then I dry fitted the engine comp cover.

OC - thank you for following along and your comments. Tomorrow I hope to add the headlights and side Koach lights to their position. I might be able to mount the rear rumble seat to the back portion of the body. Till then, Cheers!

I took a look at your Revell Black Pearl and she is an absolute beauty!!! I hope others will check out your build 😉

Thank you so much for your kind comments about the Pearl.

  7. I must do a bit more later today,  I decided to have a lazy day infront of the box  watching some chill out tv shows last night,    I will have a general check  over the bits I last fitted  than will probably work on the exhaust systems, these even have hollowed out pipes  so they will be blacked inside then after fitting I will paint the outsides in a rusty bronze colour I will make up from mixing flat alum  and some red ocre  (same as I did on the Mossie  exhausts)   then I will be able to glue down the engine cover I made up the other day.
