Nirvana got a reaction from Canute in Byrnes Sander or saw, that is the Question?
I wrote an email to Byrnes Machines, and had an answer regarding the motors in less than then minutes.
The motors are not able to change for variable speed, this as they are capacitor start motors.
I talked to my friend who has the sander and saw, he also said "Go for the saw".
Which gives me a great idea. I buy the saw since it's more expensive with some accessories and put the sander on the christmas tree list.
This way I will have both and less growling about a more expensive christmas gift.

Nirvana reacted to kljang in Kit Review - HMS ENTERPRIZE (1774) by CAF MODELS
Hi Alex,
You can contact Tom via the CAF Models website or with this email: 450449987@qq.com
The kit was based on plans from the National Maritime Museum which provided the lines. All of the framing and what not was created by Tom using practices of model shipwrights of the time. A Polish card model company also created a kit of Enterprize and published plans of the ship. This was used as a reference for decoration etc. as they had done a lot of research to determine the style of frieze etc.
Cheers,
Kerry

Nirvana got a reaction from Jond in Bluenose by Retired guy - Model Shipways - scale 1:64
Richard,
I just got back to my Bluenose, and I have to say.... the detailing of yours is outstanding,
and I know I won't even close to yours when mine is done.
However, you are an inspiration to all of us. There is always something to learn from others.
Thank you

Thanks very much Keith and your build is absolutely exceptionally good as well 👍
Hope it helps you in your build Richard
Thanks Robin did make with a few knocks as I see in the pictures, still thinking of maybe doing a bit of weathering
Thanks Michael that is very nice of you to say
Love the metal work as well Joe, but also I do love doing the woodwork isn't it a great hobby
You are right Richard the kit supplied white metal parts are not up to par which is a shame
Thanks Mugje
Thanks a lot mate just trying to get it to look right really.
Again thanks for your comments and to everyone for the likes
Regards
Richard

I had the luxury of ordering both with my tax refund. But if I had to choose one it would definitely be the saw with attachments.

First of all, congratulations on designing and producing this beautiful model. I would love to build this model.
Are all the masts and rigging materials included in the kit? Also, is there a stand included in the kit too?
Thanks.

Be advised, SC (Shi Cheng) is on our banned manufacturers list. ALL Black Pearl kits currently coming out of China are unlicensed products and thus constitute infringement of copyrighted Disney intellectual property. Please read:
The Shi Cheng kit happens to be copied from the licensed Hachette kit designed by Chris Watton.

Mike,
You are absolutely right having someone else looking over instructions. Daria would probably have prevented this from the start.....😀

I like to get a skiff like that, not as a model but real one.

Nirvana reacted to dvm27 in New movie Greyhound
All I know is that my cable bill with Xfinity is over $300/month but I can't watch a damn Apple TV movie because of some digital buffoonery . Watching a WW2 movie with Tom Hanks on a computer screen just seems wrong. It was made for a 60" screen (at least)!

Chuck L,
Warm .
Glad to see another person who built a Tippecanoe yacht.
I have the T37, which has been sailed a lot.
Have visit Will Lesh and seen his workshop. It's huge!
His daughter has become a professional competition sailor.

John,
Great starter kit, many times the solid hulls are a great way to get a finished product before you starting running out of steam.
Start a build log.

Nirvana got a reaction from mtaylor in Is any ship build log welcome here ?
Tom, ,
As a matter of fact, I would love to see more of modern ships in here. Classic wood kits such as Victory and Constitution are still popular.
I have some modern ships I like to build. But those are going to be from plans and scratch.
Start a build log and I will follow along.

Hank, I take it you are in full speed in order to get the "yard" open for business.
Looks little to clean, so it's time to get some sawdust to build up.😉

Welcome, Articce. Yes, any type of ship model is very welcome and we even have a place for non-ship models (it's in the "Shore Leave" section).
And there are also quite a few ship models made of card, so you're among friends.
A build log would be very welcome

Well a smit Rotterdam is still a nice vessel, even though its long turned into paperclips.. still a beauty with nice lines.. "my vessel" is build in 2006 and i visited her in 2012. This visit resulted in a couple hundreds photo's and all drawings anyone could think of.
I feel like a must to deliver a nice looking model to the Vroon Company😀. So i will do that👍

You have my attention.
long, very long time ago I ordered some drawings at Smit-international to do a modern tug. I ended up with Billings Rotterdam. The drawings are still lying around somewhere, fading I guess.
