If you have some re-stickeable 3M Magic tape you can lay a piece down in the gap and trace the shape you need. Peel off the tape and stick it on your planking stock. Cut the plank a hair oversize and sanding stick it down until it just slips into place. Labor intensive? Yes! But, with care, the result is well worth the trouble. Its a real pain in the butt. Ill tackle the starboard side tomorrow.. Once i get the first layer in the curves can be replaced with straight lines which will be mush easier to fit. No Idea Posted November 6, 2021 Share #458 Posted November 6, 2021 Hi Kevin - I photocopy the plans and then carefully cut out each piece with some very sharp scissors and glue them to the wood. I had made one along time ago but i guess it was so small it disappeared. That solved the problem. Then made up some extenders that lay flat on the deck and allow further reach. For planking I would use tapered offcuts as wedges slipped between the ledge of the margin plank and the deck plank being glued. You can generate a surprising amount of pressure with tapered wedges. ( those given with the local pizzas are perfect.) A comment on paper patterns which I also use for cutting is try using the glue sticks that are used for school work, photo albums, etc. It holds very tightly to the wood when cut and washes off with water leaving no residue. Amazing work i'm looking forward to reading your log from the start.
