Couldn't get the halves nice and flush, so I'll be filling and sanding a bit

If memory served me right,   I ran a strip along the center line  as part of my armour belts (on my warpy kit)  that way it hid the bottom hull join.

Didn't have much time this week. Put some Tamiya putty on the hull, sanded it the next day, and reapplied. Will have some more sanding to do, and hopefully get on to priming the hull this weekend. Received new filters for my spraybooth today, the old ones were completely clogged.

Looking forward to your constructive comments Denis!

Working on the hull, so much to do.Used Tamiya Basic Type Putty for it as it dries reasonably fast. I had to add three layers ... oh what joy ... finally I could make some dust as all those wood builders are complaining about ;)

Added the trurrets for those 15cm gun turrets at it's flanks, and after that I could put on the first two deck pieces.

The focsle has a superstructure on it, with a vent. Instead of following RGL's method of drilling it out, I cut layers from the inside until it opened the "louvres". If you look good you can see the red top from the glue bottle

Lot's more to do before I can start priming the hull. I am not painting ribs like RGL, I have been over photographs for quite some time, and studied them thoroughly, but I cannot find a single one showing the lines so typical for the modern ships. I may have to take into account that the bottom hull plating at that time was far thicker than presently applied. The upper hull has been armoured and doesn't show any ribs or oilcanning effects either, which will make this build comparatively easy to paint. However I will be trying my hand at chipping and weathering. First things first though: Finishing the hull for priming ... off at a slow pace

Thanks, mate. I can appreciate the time you needed to get this build going, most of it will be prepping as far as I can see. For there is little plastic when compared to e.g. Yamato. I plan to remove the louvres and replace them by thinner brass sheet. See if that will make a difference, at least it will keep me bussy a wee bit longer

Love your thinking about the louvrs  - small details (and using brass stonger)  makes such a difference.

Good to have you back downunder, feels a lot safer up here without a rampant roe ;)

Thanks, it took some whipping to get them going, still moving like a freight train moving backwards towing a block of concrete.

Prepping the hull. Drilled the holes for the torpedo net suppot beams, just the port side. Oddly enough, the starboard side is off scale by 2 mm(!) I've decided I've just got to live with it. Work is pestering me. Somehow the real important things in life get the least attention! Pictures will follow ... after I've taken them.

Thanks Sam, another little bit. I've finished the "seams" at the top of the bow running back. Started on the forward swinging boom. When I was looking for the parts, it already screwed me eyeballs !!! the boom itself is 3.7cm (just over 1.5") long ... go figure, I get a splittin' headache from the Musashi guns, what will this give me ...

I found an image which is easier on the eyes, than the one I've got for the build instructionsSwinging-booms-110_2048x2048.thumb.jpg.d3d46fdd4e68a9374b6bbac6c36d5261.jpg

The second boom, the stowed one is even smaller, but has the same nice little parts to it. Ken, if you start her, you are in for some fiddly bits ...

Grant me strength

Worked on the hull from the H class Tribal destroyer mainly

Removed the plastic on the centre "super" structure, there are air inlets too. Attacked those from the inside. Also a bit of brass work to get my eyes "in the mood" the foremast, lower part
