First of all thank you for the membership here. not being very computer savvy I hope im doing this right. A little about me personally. Born in Ithaca NY, (5th generation) been here ever since. when I was a toddler my grand father (Samual A Supek) had a hobby room down in the basement where he built is RC airplanes and ships. I remember standing in the doorway watching him work. I was NOT allowed in that room for obvious reasons. Growing up I always had a desire to build models, I can recall a few I have built as a youngster just as you warned about, WAY above and beyond just a static model. I was never satisfied with the "hollowness". Always improving upon, putting as much "reality" into my builds as I could. I have a uncle who also has this "desire" or "need" to build models to a higher level. I heard stories of his child hood and I have a couple of memories myself of some of his builds. like making real firing cannons on model ships. functioning bombs on r/c aircraft, and so on. All this said leading back to myself, I do believe what I have is some sort of genetic skill passed down, if you want to call it that. In January 1996 I was featured in Radio Controlled Car Action for a project I started in 1990. There is an online article, this will give you a perspective on my modeling technique. (www.zurru.de/english/randys_t3e.htm). and even at that point it wasn't finished. And as you stated, life happened and I had to take a respite from my hobbies. Fast forward a few years I found myself settled down again. In 2013 I was able to get back into my hobbies and with fallowing my career I decided it was time to build a R/C ship, and yes it would be in the style of...….. me. WAY overkill and to the max of my ability. My new goal, build a scale ship where everything as possible will "function" as it would on a real thing. Seven years later my project is nearing completion and that brings me here. looking for like minded modelers. Not so much looking for information on ships, I'm more of a free style modeler, but more to share stories and maybe form some friendships.     I tried to attach some pix, but I could not figure out how....
