You might also wish to try roughening up the cast piece with some sandpaper before you try and glue it to wood.  100 grit should work.

Does anyone know where I can find the site about ship modeling?  I think it's called MSW 2 or something like that.  I think that is where build logs are posted and pictures of ships can be found...... :P :P :P :P :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :DB)

It seems I've lost my way.....

Jim is hitting the nail on his head!

There must be somewhere a build log…….

And guys,

I sand all the metal parts before I put glue on it.

I even call a welder…….

But I hope it stays now.

I'll have to go to work ,so I don't touch a thing!

Maybe that will works  :P

See you tomorrow again……( if I can find the time )

Hope all is going well - how are you making out on the metal work?  Seeing the rest of your success on this beauty I have no doubt you will overcome this obstacle as well!

EDIT:  I just noticed - 12 more posts and you will have the distinction of becoming the first non-Moderator Commodore!  A worthy rank for a mariner of your stature with your fleet of mighty cottonball carrying warships nearing completion!!!

Sjors,

What sort of glue are you using for the metal parts?

Hi Grant,

I was first using UHU glue and that didn't work so the next glue was special for model building.

Small parts worked perfect but the lower part of the quarter gallery is solid metal , so that didn't work also and at least I try two components glue and that work!

When I want to remove it, I have to cut a hole in the hull…….

The first two parts of the gallery are on it and need some paint.

Maybe I can post tomorrow a picture of that.

Not the late shift today but a shift that is between morning and late…..

Starting at 13.15 PM till 21.40 in the evening.

So only a little painting and then back to work again…….

Hi Wayne,

Everything is ok.

When you are at Maine and you start up the PC, maybe you see a little update  :)

Can I order a few hundred of those little "balls" ? :D

And thanks for the confidence !

I smell a little fear??????????

We are so lucky that we have a fleet of cotton balls warships they we don't have the fear that we have some boll weavers in the house…..( I don't know if it is the right word but there was a song in the 60's that was going about a boll weaver or something like that?

Maybe someone else can shine a light on it ?

It calls the bollweaver song…..

Ok, here are the first pictures of the lower part of the quarter gallery's….

It's not perfect but I am pleased with it, so I keep it this way.

A little paint has do be done.

Because them also, they have every confidence in your ability to succeed... :D

In fact, for metal parts they use molds. At first, they can form once the mold quite perfectly then all results would be perfect... They are craftsmen I believe but I can not understand why the outcomes are not clean, symmetric, in good trim...

Very nice work on the galleries, Sjors, doesn't it feel great to be able to make your own ship parts? B)

Be careful my friend, the pull of the dark side is strong, and I sense much force within you  ;)

Best regards,

Aldo

Hey!  Someone snuck in here and uploaded pictures of a ship model - kind of breaks the flow of things, don't you think?  The gallery is looking good, as is the transom.  Keep up the good work, Sjors.

Now back to the topic at hand - is this the song you are talking about?

Let me tell ya a story about a boll weevil

Now, some of you may not know

But a boll weevil is an insect

And he's found mostly where cotton grows

Now, where he comes from, hm, nobody really knows

But this is the way the story goes...

Sjors,

I asked about the glue as you seemed to be having trouble getting it to adhere. I was going to suggest using a two-part epoxy for these metal parts, but from the sound of it you figured that out already. I'll leave you to go back to playing with your balls now. :P

Yes Andy, then it all crashed and burned ------ again!  The visual imagery around here is sometimes frightening.

That said, the transom and galleries look great and Sjors has made progress in mastering adhesive technology.

GREAT JOB!

Frightening is not the word here.... it's utterly disturbing.....

Of course.. I admit I have to restrain myself from pulling the "flush" lever on this thread.... being party to a group of stereotypically dirty minded sailors and all....

And Aldo..... that didn't help :P

Nicely done my friend.

I wonder if the humidity has got something to do with glue not sticking well, we have had some warm wet days lately. :(  :(

Ive  had some trouble with my plates not sticking very well,

I don't know about the visual imagery being frightening, it's the stuff nightmares are made of. :D

Thank you all.

@ Grant,

I have to try everything to see what's holding that metal.

Now I can go on with the other metal parts…...

The quarter gallery goes higher and higher.

@ Augie,

Thank you also.

I almost glued my fingers together with the amount of glue I used  :D

@ Robbyn,

Also thank you !

I happy how it look this far.

Only one day free of work so I think not much progress.

@Mobbsie,

Maybe you are right about the humidity.

We want sunshine, now we have got it…….

But it is already over.

Two days of 34 degrees Celsius and the coming days it goes down to 16 degrees Celsius…...

Winter coat out of the closet again…...

Thanks for the head up  :D

CAN WE HAVE A DRUM ROLL PLEASE ???????

I predict that, within the next few minutes, we shall all witness a promotion the likes of which has never before been seen on MSW 2.

Captain Sjors is about to be launched into the stratosphere.

Congratulations (in advance) my friend :champagne:

Do I still have time to cobble together a catapult to help with the launch? (Or an air canon?) Maybe someone can help with a JATO bottle or something?

Good morning all,

Yesterday there was no reason to post because there was nothing to post for me.

And to post something without a reason is for me no post.

But……now you gave me a reason  :D

Thanks Augie, Aldo, Randy for the champagne…...

Have I to sit alone at the table now?

@ Andy,

Thanks.

I should be happy when I can go back to the wooden parts.

There is not much you can do with metal.

You can not shape it, bend it, glue it  :(
