I'm going to try a departure away from the norm with this one, bare with me on this  -  Im going to clean/prime and  paint  the sprues  with Tamiya rattle cans before assembling anything,   I also have the same main colour in Acrylic  touch up  tin  for the small areas while assembling.

This will help me as my outdoor spraying is not ideal with the assembled thingy  due to not being able to hold the thing.

Well thats the plan.

I've done that for priming but not final color.  Can you build a jig like the one JAVLIN uses for decalling his plane, like one I copied from him ? You could use it to support the tank while spraying. Mine was done using a simple cordless power drill with Forstner bits (3/8 inch)

I'll have a look Jack, I do have a 12yr single Tallisker malt that I've not got round to opening yet;)

OC I've used a lazy Susan  turntable thingy with a homemade sprue cradle when I primer sprayed models years ago.

My trouble is  I am not going into the field of spraying equipment  (just wont pay me to do that)   so all large painting needs to be done using Tamiya Rattle cans, to do that  (because of the fumes being dangerous to the admiral)  I have to do it outside on our tiny patio with the back door closed, this means it has to be painted quickly  without any  equipment  - tables etc, just held in the hand and sprayed  then put inside a box with lid to take indoors.

It's not the obscene priced bottle Jack 🤪 but the one for about £35

I would be loathe to open one costing over £400😬

And to correct myself, it's 10yr not 12, I've had it for over 2 years though, does that count?😁

I got it from the distillery on Skye when I  had a holiday there.

My idea  is to either use one of my  plastic clips  or just hold the sprue with a throw away glove  then spray away, might try to rig my hairdryer up on an extension leed   then  force dry the sprues  before they can be put in the box, the idea is  - any tough ups should be minimal and not on the surface areas, also  all the join areas  will be carefuly scraped back before assembling.

Whew !  The two bottles that popped up on the London Whiskey Exchange were £993 plus change per bottle.  Redbreast over here runs between $50 and $75 a bottle last time I bought one.

Now that would have made some history/future dio  almost like a Doctor Who episode  where Wellington brought an ultra modern over sized tank back from the future  and drove it down the  valley firing at all the french canons,     can you imagine the looks on thier faces.......

I always build things with a relavence to us  the Chally  is no different,   another of the places where we used to live  - we were about 3 miles away form a MOD  firing range  where  Challengers  and other field pieces used to do live firing,   we would often hear them quite clear  the Challys  destinctive  "snap"  sound as it fired, also sometimes they would be driven past us  on the roadway  on either Scamell  or  those other more modern transporters  -  what a fantastic site  over 100 tons  tank/transporter combined.
