Having finished HMS Pegasus earlier in the week I took a few days to tidy up and as I had the day off today, i could not wait anymore and started my Indy project.

First the easiest thing

As the layers go on you can feel it getting stronger and definitely heavier.IMG_6655.thumb.jpeg.cae903360d81a1538c628dd5f9869ca2.jpegIMG_6656.thumb.jpeg.2bc4e5ee62ac44e279934c271b04e874.jpeg

Although you can't really see it, I did plank the orlop.

Added peg markings and painted the hatches

Work continues this weekend. A palm sander made fairing the bow and stern pretty easy

The stern came out pretty well.IMG_6669.thumb.jpeg.95086b0e52fad140d4e4c2b11274e02b.jpegIMG_6668.thumb.jpeg.d5dac82273688a5eb45b5f9f710454ff.jpegIMG_6667.thumb.jpeg.f124f7c54220fcc7c3c08c0269d60a9c.jpegIMG_6665.thumb.jpeg.dd30b39186e8f994147560e2f68cf7d3.jpegIMG_6666.thumb.jpeg.a7784c0096fcffb8492ddc5349382d53.jpegThe

The hull continues to fit together smoothly but really have to be careful with some of the parts. Already sustained some battle damage but easily fixed.  Can never ave to many clamps.

Thanks for the encouragement and comments are welcome. Work done for the day as lots of glue needs drying. Hull supports quite a bit of weight that I placed on the gundeck to dry. Also finished the day by adding the stern supports.

Work continues. I think these views show how long is thew gundeck

Next to her sister ship Agamemnon

IMG_6695.thumb.jpeg.0cdd4266c4e10b31eca5f0e28fe7ca72.jpeg

Did a bit of spray painting of the etched parts for later

IMG_6694.thumb.jpeg.a1292000c3afd4d43ef8236f63bda264.jpegIMG_6696.thumb.jpeg.e8ca186bdd78a913b91fcc4756984087.jpeg

So sanded the inner bulkheads. Ran into my first snag of the build. Parts do not line up next to each other completely. There is a 2-3 mm gap between the last 2 pieces (happened on both sides). Filled the gap and as will not be visible and is painted, will nto be noticed.

welcome to the group,

lol why did you trim the inner bulkwarks, and then state they were to short,  this is not an issue with the kit

Well live and learn. I just leveled the ends a bit to make a tight fit (few light touches with paper but when aligning the gunports , that is where the problem occurred. It likely was just me as I did not have trouble with Sphinx and Duchess.

Makes sanding the hull much easier.

Took awhile. There was some battle damage but nothing glue and clamps could not fix

The finished product. I don't mind comments before I put the first plank, likely tomorrow. Main planking will be over the weekend.

Last thing today is that I soaked the bow pieces and clamped. Once dried tomorrow I will place the appropriate markings.  Soaking the pear definitely makes it swell a lot.  The change in width between wet and dry part of the straight area was 2mm!

i loved the 1st planking, the tuck at the stern needs some thought though, but works fine on the condition you have faired enough

Now a few rows in, mostly ok but slight asymmetry on the stern. Fairing the edges of the planks makes things nice and tight. For the stern I presoaked and bent several pieces around a roll of tape to make it easier on the stern bend.IMG_6739.thumb.jpeg.6494d8ef8ebaa2deae2ebdec30f929ed.jpegIMG_6740.thumb.jpeg.49cc8020314038af725211f376fbfb98.jpegIMG_6741.thumb.jpeg.a9a947f44155f3787e94eac17809519b.jpegIMG_6743.thumb.jpeg.54854e8e565b8b9d5671ceada15bcd88.jpegIMG_6744.thumb.jpeg.cf904192334a4216a179d4c5f92d692d.jpegIMG_6742.thumb.jpeg.811ac908f61ab8e98beb93ad328a4008.jpeg

Here is the work of the day. So far not bad. things evened out given the slight variations in widths. I use Glenn's rec of 3m for the taper point and made a few curve pieces. Some shims needed as I faired a bit excessively.

Just finished the firs planking and cleaned up the main deck gun ports. This is the unsanded hull. Not perfect even for the first planking but I plan to copper plate the hull in the endIMG_6827.thumb.jpeg.d66028d68461b1bf23451395951fb2af.jpegIMG_6826.thumb.jpeg.1ed58fd296f7357127ea1c3a1c53ce59.jpegIMG_6825.thumb.jpeg.72c3a6604d8e9c71498b5b5c1c03569c.jpegIMG_6824.thumb.jpeg.c30a8a53831d2b0966af7199883dadc4.jpegIMG_6823.thumb.jpeg.b61dd3797cf2a9f6628d1ee4cd6ab521.jpegIMG_6828.thumb.jpeg.3145f451475c4a2cb1fab79174cb1eca.jpegIMG_6829.thumb.jpeg.be694bcddd09cbce8dc0512ba90b387a.jpegIMG_6830.thumb.jpeg.42489460e45123015506cc948d3adb5d.jpegIMG_6831.thumb.jpeg.52fc7d2f3cf37fb88a0a39246184f7f2.jpeg

Nicely done, great job. I'm still AWOL with my glass back so not sure when I can resume work on my Indy. My current goal is be be in a fit state to travel to a Switzerland (by train) at start of July. Plan is for a river cruise to Dussledorf. If back is still playing up I might try to book into one of the special Swiss  clinics for instant and total pain relief:D

Some sanding and filling, ready for the next round of planking. I think a nice Riesling would help on the promenade deck. I am tempted to paint the lower hull white as it looks good but as I opted for the real copper tiles I will continue with coppering later/IMG_6833.thumb.jpeg.05c419e839f58f7bde501095a326b4c0.jpegIMG_6834.thumb.jpeg.b562842e131a36004c7a021a67ed1fde.jpegIMG_6836.thumb.jpeg.b7c09f052016fbd1d524b449a8e1a8d2.jpegIMG_6835.thumb.jpeg.03e2f5b5c3a1269d1fc2775cefff18c3.jpegIMG_6837.thumb.jpeg.cae1a14ef61de0da51f0067c198e944b.jpegIMG_6838.thumb.jpeg.71bbd5bc75c73eaad919e6e4d28851f2.jpeg
