Krupp Mörser 10/16 by Haliburton - FINISHED - Takom - 1/35 Scale

Recommended Posts

While I haven’t quite finished the Mark IV tank, as a side build I started this heavy howitzer used by Germany in WW1 and WW2.   There are decals to portray this as a captured by the Canadian 21st battalion at Vimy Ridge.

Very very tempted to buy this!

You totally should. I know you’d do a first rate job on the painting/detailing.

On reflection I decided to go with the version that was not portrayed at Vimy (key difference are in wheels and barrel length) but I’ll likely still use the Canadian decals and something similar to the portrayed paint scheme.

some update shots.  There were two parts that try as I might (thin support rods) snapped.  I’ve read other people comment on that.  No big deal I improvised with some wire rod.  The other thing I botched was photo etch to show the rifling.

A quick build means a Nice fit looking Good! ;)

Wow thanks Javlin!  I’ve been struggling a bit on the painting to try to find an equivalent to the suggested A MIG 057 yellow gray as I can’t seem to find it at my LHS. So progress may be stalled until I figure that out or I will just get creative

Thanks Mike!  Taking a couple days vacation from work to do yard work only to have it rain does have its advantages!😉

Additional mud effects were added to the wheels and the decal added showing the ‘graffiti’ (City of WPG) added by the Canadian troops who captured the gun - I understand this refers to the City of Winnipeg.  With that I will call this build finished thank you all for looking in and your likes.

And now some additional weathering - hoping not to overdo it but guessing these field guns showed did not stay in pristine condition for very long.

Amen brother, and this one would fit in any WWI landscape... dirty yes but not overpowering....

Scott that came out real Nice! Now if I was you make a display base for multi armor builds something simple but will enhance the look/aesthetics liek this for my PRU Mustangs.;)

It’s a great idea Javlin, your display really accents your fine work on those Stangs and I foresee more armour etc in the future

Thanks OC, I’m a newbie with weathering but really think it take models to the next dimension. I’d like to experiment with chipping in the future.

Thanks Egilman, weathering is definitely an art and not a science!

Thanks Alan, I wasn’t able to find the precise recommended paints but these tamiya selections worked well I think.
