Hello from North Yorkshire! Just joined so I thought I'd put the kettle on - priorities of course.

I've not built a model boat before, or anything out of wood so this place has been invaluable so far with my Billing boats Norden.

It's a beginner's build for sure but going OK, apart from one gigantic mistake which I'll post a photo of soon. It's irreversible but I might get away with it if I lock it in a spare room...

I'd like to say thank you for the inspiration so far and hope that I can emulate some of your skills in about 50 years time.

Welcome aboard! As I once was told: it's only wood and can be repaired / changed in a variety of ways.

I don't even know what the parts are called yet; I've planked the hull but didn't do it alongside the back of the keel where it runs to the rudder.

Welcome!

I'd say relax. Most of the people who see your model won't know there's anything wrong with it (unless you tell them).

I had no idea myself until I saw some topics here on MSW, there was nothing in the Billing instructions. I'll know for next time

P.S. For all you true aficionados of Southern-style biscuits and gravy, this video is a hoot!

Um . . . where I come from we call those things scones. A biscuit is something like this - but I believe our American cousins call these cookies . . .

PS: Add my vote to see a build log for your Norden. I haven't visited North Yorkshire, but I did get to York. Amazing place. Loved it.

Mollusc - I guess you are going to paint the hull. If this is the case just fill the area with wood filler and sand back to the required shape.
