The cafeteria part looks nothing like the real thing. Not even the measurements. I was thinking of adding some small detail (like pictures on the wall, wallpaper etc) but to get it accurate I'd have to rebuild the whole interior. And I don't feel like doing that. So it will have to be a stylized version of "Bohuslän".

As you can see the painting is quite sloppy, but it will be dimly lit and not show (I hope). The guy who paints the interior is not very accurate when he mixes new colours so it differs quite a bit on the original as well.

After this build I'll stick to building sailing ships. "Modern" ships isn't really that fun...

The original floor is darker but I only varnished the planks so there will be some contrast against the tables and chairs.

And here is some tables:

The ply for the tables and chairs is 0.5 mm and extremely bristle. brushing the ply with sanding sealer gave it enough strength for assembling.

On to glue 30 chairs....

I HATE SMALL chairs made of ply that crumbles if you stare at it too hard.

But now they're done. All 27 of them.

Here's six:

I have since painted the cushions using Model Master's Gun Metal. It was adequate as that worn leather look.

Hello,

While waiting for some paint to arrive from England I thought I could do the upper cabins.

Outside panels:

post-6862-0-43978800-1410209788_thumb.jpg

Some wallpaper on the inside:

Windowframes:

post-6862-0-82236200-1410209790_thumb.jpg

Windows mounted (scrathces from mat underneath):

Front:

post-6862-0-82537100-1410209791_thumb.jpg

and a double doors:

post-6862-0-45784600-1410209792_thumb.jpg

The doors where 5 mm too tall and about 3 mm too wide. Extremely sloppy considering it is laser cut! Had a hard time with frames breaking when I was sanding the opening wider. Not happy!!!

Then I discovered this:

post-6862-0-11852000-1410210343_thumb.jpg

The main deck is apparently curving upwards at the aft. there is no hint of this in the plans. They show planking following the top of the frames, but then there's no curve. Almost 10 mm gap at most. The walls of the upper cabins are curved for this but I did not realize it was that much. Looking at the few pictures I could find of this model shows no curve either.I have no I dea how to fix this. I thought I could maybe mount some scrap strip on top of the rear windows.

Then I discovered the next catastrophe:

post-6862-0-37713100-1410210344_thumb.jpg

A gap from the upper cabin walls to the front of almost 5 mm!!! No way to attach upper deck there. And this is LASER CUT!?!

post-6862-0-06648900-1410210345_thumb.jpg

The light from the LEDs will spill out here.

post-6862-0-85591000-1410210345_thumb.jpg

post-6862-0-20992500-1410210346_thumb.jpg

Shaving off the top of the front will free the window frames and the doors on each side. Cutting the bottom cuts the doorframe. Since the doors where too big, there's no marginals left!!!

To say the least I'm really pissed off right now!

Will take another look at this the day after tomorrow since tomorrow I have some real boats to renovate.

Fascinating build and it's looking good!  Looks like the problem with the curved wall sections is resolving itself.  I had a similar problem with the cutaway I'm working on now.  I found sometimes you can put in bracing where it won't show or even a stringer that might look like crown molding or skirting.  Plus putting the roof on usually helps to.

Thanks for visiting Nils.

Sorry to say that Bohuslän is on hold. Think I'll have to do a lot of the panels from scratch and I'm not ready for that right now.

In the meanwhile I'm rigging a Pegasus model and masting one called Amphion. Hopefully the Pinco Genovese from Euromodel is on it's way soon.

Great build.  I am currently building the s/s Mariefred from NCB.  Also my first non-rigged ship in a long time.  This has been a fun build so far.  Not too stressful.  I have the log at http://modelshipworld.com/index.php/topic/9228-ss-mariefred-by-burnside63-nordic-class-boats/.  I am also lighting her.  Little different lighting this one due to multiple cabins on multiple decks.

Since burnside63 told me about others having this kit without the mismatch pieces I contacted Turkmodel. Mr. Selvi answered quickly and confirmed that they had some adjustment issues on the first batch of this kit. They are sending me replacement parts ASAP. So I'm back on track again. But now I have four builds going simultaneously

Thank you burnside63 for kick-starting me on this one.

Hello, Mr. Pucko,

Good News, I guess. I am actually working at "Bohuslän" an I have been a little afraid of mismatches awaiting me (in Moment I'm still working at the hull).

Now I'm exited to realize what batch my kit is from  !

I will let you know.

All the best

Hello all

I've been doing some odds and ends on the Bohuslän.

Oak stain on the front deck:

post-6862-0-56671500-1425195072_thumb.jpg

Aft wall of cafeteria did not fit so good. It may be me having trouble getting the planks to lay flush to the frames aft.

Filler, sanding and paint plus the sofas will hide this mess I hope.

post-6862-0-67805600-1425195073_thumb.jpg

The lip of the windows where marked with the lasercutter. They would disappear when painted so I cut some silver wire and made a rather simple ornament.

post-6862-0-72713100-1425195075_thumb.jpg

I tried doing the curly bit on the ends but it was impossible (for me) to get them all identical so I went for the simple variation.

post-6862-0-12059300-1425195826_thumb.jpg

post-6862-0-71555700-1425195128_thumb.jpg

First of many, many, many coats of paint.

post-6862-0-16213800-1425195129_thumb.jpg

post-6862-0-58995700-1425195129_thumb.jpg

No portholes included so I ordered from CMB.

post-6862-0-28249600-1425195128_thumb.jpg

Companionway and "lifebelt boxes"

post-6862-0-72263100-1425195074_thumb.jpg

Kind if weathered look.

post-6862-0-21065700-1425195075_thumb.jpg

The plywood is very bristle and breaks all the time.

post-6862-0-22222900-1425195127_thumb.jpg

Well, I'll be doing some rigging again on my other builds for a while so the next update will not be too soon.

Puckotred,

You're doing a very good job on her, and I didn't quite realise how big she is. Re. the wallpaper. If that's what the wallpaper is, then... I can also see that re-working the interior must be a pain, but then what a joy to get it correct! Yours could be the only model Bohuslan like that.

Btw, re. the hull. Good idea about the lips over the windows, but have you ever thought about adding the rivets? I believe you can buy packs of rivet heads. ;)
