I find the replicas interesting in how they are bracketed and the brackets are hortizontal over the gun port. I really like those flush ports also.

I doubt the lights just left of the anchor are period correct though.

Looks like to me that the metal bars are more period correct then the chain and with your soldering skills, I'll bet you could make some that blow that twisted wire out of the water. I really like the brackets on the replica also which are horizontal or vertical depending of gun port placement, while retailing the horizontal line of the bar placement.

Hi Randy,

I had found this link below one year ago and had solved a lot of my problems...

There are many builds of high quality.

In each build there is a text in which through a link "closer views of hull, deck and rigging" you can examine the details and you can click on each photo to enlarge it...

I agree whole heartedly, The problems involved with building is why I build. If I wanted easy I'd build plastic models with premolded pieces, but that doesn't satisfy near as much as the thinking and developing of ways to create and solve each build step. Plus there's lots of room for personalization, depending on the builders preferences.

I love also seeing other builders create in the same manner, or like in your present case. Take the creation process further to dismantling and making things more correct (be it historic or preference). Only the builder knows what is correct for them.

For example, look at this 1610 Galeon that is a bronze medal winner in 2008 http://www.modelships.de/Stockholm_Galleon/Stockholm-Galleon.htm

Nice beautiful work, but that green, ICK. But then I don't like the original colour scheme of the Wasa, but its one amazing ship.

Looking at those pics again...do your stays wrap around the mast under the crow's nest, or do they go up inside, and wrap around above them?

Randy, do you not use Paypal? Just curious...I do so my turn around time on the rope is only about 2-3 days. Thanks for answering my question about the stays. And thanks for the Captain comment, wow, I should have gotten there a couple weeks ago....crazy crazy life right now, what can I say.

which shops did you look at it in oz Randy ?

I wonder why shipping costs would be high as it wouldn't weight that much and you can send them in a normal envelop

yup I hear what you are saying. I see they would charge me $10 for anything under $100 . sending some chainplates in a normal envelop would only cost $0.60.

Oddly, I and three or four other people on the planet ;) never did set up a paypal account,

Well Randy I am one of those three or four people.

The ship looks fine and your rework of the rigging looks like a great improvement. I am wondering why a company like AL does not get the message and supply better rope or at least supply no rope and let the builder supply their own, they would either have a better reputation for their kits and they could also be less expensive. plus the rope would not have to be thrown away.

Michael that could lead to them fixing up their instructions also so that they actualy match the parts and that could lead to them having really great kits at low prices. it just wouldnt be AL anymore

Hi Randy,

I thought I shall take a look at your build log.

I was surprised that i don't see my name at the hole build log!

Shame on me !!!!

And now you are almost finished…...

You are doing a really great job.

I see a lot of scratch at your log.

First time that you build a sailing ship and then this.

CHAPEAU !!!!!!!

I'm sorry Randy...

You are right, if something begin to deviate from the path, it has to be left aside for a while... You should repose your mind... An error occurred... You should shut down and restart it to recover the system and to install updates... :D

Randy, I have learned it seems to come with the territory. You go to fix one thing, and in the tear down create more work for yourself. i had the same problem with the channels when I removed my rigging....decided against changing the twisted wire out for proper chainplates. No way I wanted to repair all the damage I knew I would cause to my hull since I have those wires CA'd in place to stop the twisting.

But, I do believe in the end you will be happier. I am just about finished with the stays, gotta say good rope, good serving machine = much better results!
