I've invited my 15 year old granddaughter to follow along. Let's see if she does and how much she participates.
I was building the Niagara and got to the rigging and was intimidated so I thought I'd build this one to get some simpler rigging experience. Here's my Niagara. http://modelshipworld.com/index.php/topic/6701-niagara-1813-by-justblowininthewind-model-shipways-164-first-build/
So far I'm impressed with the laser cuts, the written instructions are a challenge to say the least. The plans themselves are not bad at all.
I made the box for holding the wood for the Niagara. The blue tape on the left is left over from the Niagara. The duct tape is for this ship. I made that from display shelf scraps from Home Depot.
I'm only showing the 1st 2 sets of plans as they're what's relevant now.

Well, sorry for the long delay, friends. BUSY summer. Which is just now ending here in California. Upper 50's. Rain. 2 more months of this crap.
Anyway, here's the latest. Sorry there's not a lot more, but I was negligent in taking pics.
I'm intimidated by the rigging so I'm putting it on hold while I build the Rattlesnake.
Soon as I get the log started I'll let you know.

There's one site I do, do. And take that for what it's worth. Called nextdoor.com. It's a site dedicated to..., You guessed it, your neighborhood. It goes by the name of your neighborhood. Ours, bridleridge.nextdoor.com.
Someone says, I found a dog. Another says, I found a cat. Another says, "I think I saw a cat... burgler... Another says, "Well, I'll be dog gone!" Then someone gets upset about dogs being gone and everyone gets upset that everyone's upset and... It's the most entertaining site their is. I mean if last nights debate wasn't entertainment, this site is. I can get them fighting over whose dog poops in whose yard. I've been kicked off 2 times, but they always let me back on. ID10T's.
One time someone was complaining about dog poo in their yard so I uploaded a movie of a monkey tossing poo at a zoo. (Hey that rhymed!) Said I, "This is what I would do to the person(s) if I caught them." That was the 1st time I got kicked off. Now I just watch to see who's getting kicked off next.

They're not.
I have a bunch of magnets and a 1999 pickup truck. I taped 2 8.5x11" pcs of paper together lengthwise and drew 2 parallel lines apart the same distance as the diameter of the mast and length. Set the paper on my truck and the magnets on that. Put some on the side and underneath an all around to hold them in place...

Back at it a little bit. I'll try to get some pics, I have made a little progress...
Question regarding Batten's for the top gallant and royal yards. Are we supposed to make them? I see nothing pre-cut.
Seems like hanging a yard would be easier than making a batten and those beaded perrel's.
So what IS easier?

Hey y'all! I finally had a good idea. *I* think anyway. I was getting frustrated that my work kept coming off the serving machine. I have replacement erasers for my mechanical pencils so I cut a couple pcs. off and stuck it on top of the wires.
My fist stroped block. Somewhere along the line it got upside down.

Sounds like a mild summer day in Michigan where I spent the 1st 40 year of my life. A little light rain, a tiny little lightning bolt. P-Shaw! Like anything that burns, lightning needs oxygen to burn. Once consumed at such an incredible speed (speed of light in fact - 186 thousand miles per second) the air rushes back in filling the vacuum. That's what makes the sound we call thunder.
Here in Central California, THEY get "storms" that we call sprinkles.
Y'all are getting hammered this year! Us? A balmy 90 degrees and as you know. Dry. 8 % humidity. Very nice indeed.

This is what I used to keep things square. Modified Model-Expo's. I thought I would use the wing nuts to lock things in place, but it rides so smoothly and stays in place very well.
Don't really need the back piece.
