  1. Congratulations Steve! What a beautiful result you have achieved: bravo! Very wise decision to leave the lantern and bumpkins off till after her trip to Florida! Frank.
  2. Absolutely beautiful, hard and precise work Dusan! And such nice warm colors...simply heartwarming and a lovely treat for the eye. Makes me think of starting a second Winnie in Cherry when I'm finished mine in AYC... Frank.
  3. Thanks Mike, Fred and Steve for all the kind and inspiring words. Those sure oblige me to do my very best finishing chapter 2 and move on to chapter 3! Frank.
  4. She’s beginning to look as a beautiful complete admiralty Winnie already Matt… only 3 more chapters to go!! Me 10…😅… Frank.
  5. Thanks, Rusty, Glenn, Peter, Matt, Jean-Paul, Dusan, Christian and the likes!
  6. Thanks Mike, yes I had several throwaways at the bow and the stern…I estimate 25-30% roughly... Mostly because after (also side) bending I saw I had cut and sanded off little more than my tickmarks said it should… Still difficult to estimate on forehand I also find how much tilt I should sand with my sanding stick on the sides of planks in these areas. I would like to do this better next time, as this only shows after sanding, when a tight seem becomes little less tight after sanding… Frank.
  7. Thank you Chuck. Yes, I’m very, very pleased and happy with this rewarding result after roughly 8 months. Though one also starts to love planking with the smell of the hot travel iron on those yellow cedar planks with many iterations of gently bending and fitting… But, again, all thanks to your clear instructions, both on paper and YouTube! And yet again in the Speedwell build log, such a pleasure to read and watch ahead on my iPad in the evening and again so inspiring…. Thanks! Frank.
  8. Very beautiful, crisp, precise and clean work again Mike. Again an inspirational & reference build log for our own build of Speedwell in the future! Keep up your high level of standards admired by and an inspiration for us all. Frank.
  9. Superb job on those rings and hinges Edward, you must have been a blacksmith in your former life! Frank.
  10. Hi Tom, That's why I refuse to use superglue and still use old fashioned PVA wood glue... Although it takes me months more to plank the hull,I won't make a mess as is my experience with superglue. No need sanding PVA glue away, simply rub it away with a moist cotton swap...any residu that's still left can be sanded away, with FINE GRIT sandpaper... Perhaps it's possible to chisel away the effected planks and replace them? I did so as well one or two times with planks that weren't to my liking, though at a very early stage, almost immediately after planking them and noticing they weren't in the correct line or path... Frank.
  11. Wow Steve, that's looking impressively good! Very beautiful and hard work! Can't wait to see her finished! Frank.
  12. Again a truly wonderful beauty and masterpiece with such cleaver design features Chuck! Again! Frank.
  13. Thanks Edward, Don and Fred and the likes! Almost finished now, I'll post new pictures soon. Frank.
  14. Thanks all, and the likes! I hope to be posting final planking pictures soon…😅🥃
  15. Hi all, just a small update to let you all know I’m also still at it! Though I don’t have much free building time, I’m almost there with planking the hull. Just another week or week or two of fanatic but precise planking before the whisky plank… Frank.
  16. Beautiful and ambitious project JJ! I'll be following with great interest. It will be hard to choose what will be my next after I finished Winchelsea.... Frank.
  17. Great, beautiful work and another very fine example to follow and being inspired...again... Frank.
